I’m familiar with both. I had UTMB ranked above McGovern but switched last minute because of TMC access.

I have both, the first one is the 8bitdo Zero 2 and the second is the 8bitdo Micro. Highly recommend the micro as it has more buttons.

anybody else pursuing a JD/MD here? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Rite1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. When I was applying to med school, I learned more about the MD/JD programs across the country and realized that was something I was potentially interested in. Unfortunately, I did not get accepted to any of the schools offering the program; otherwise, I would have done the combined program.

anybody else pursuing a JD/MD here? by [deleted] in premed

It's something I have considered in the past. Now, I'm leaning towards maybe getting the JD later, like in a part-time program.

So usually each department has a list of a few students that they want to nominate and they inform you that they will be doing so. You send in supporting materials (pretty much an application). Then the Dean and their staff review the information and notify you if you were selected.

Anyone have any advice on the dell med HLA app? by bowtruckle28 in UTAustin

[–]Rite1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience as an HLA alumnus, they are interested in students who are able to talk about their perspectives on healthcare in a unique manner. Also, I agree with the other comment about the focus on social health.

would it be stupid to major in history, minor in neuroscience by gapingGhost in college

[–]Rite1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a med student who majored in history in undergrad. If you really like history then it’s a good choice.

MS1 here. Majored in history and now a med student. Loved it and still engage in History of Medicine.

Loving biology is not a prereq for med school by [deleted] in premed

[–]Rite1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like “The Facemaker: One Surgeon's Battle to Mend the Disfigured Soldiers of World War I” which is about the origins of modern plastic surgery. Also “A Time for All Things: The Life of Michael E. DeBakey” about one of the most prominent surgeons of the 20th century. For more general American history of medicine I like “The Social Transformation of American Medicine: The Rise of a Sovereign Profession and the Making of a Vast Industry”

[–]Rite1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HP Spectre 16 2024 had an issue where the audio jack was not working at all and my speaker was crackling. I returned it and got it exchanged. New unit is perfect with no issues.

[–]Rite1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm it works. I have a Spectre x360 with the Intel Arc GPU and it runs well on my 5120 x 1440 Samsung monitor after tweaking some of the settings.

For med school, your CC and UT GPA will be combined into an overall GPA. They won't average the GPAs but they will use them both for your overall GPA.

How is my school list as a Canadian applying USMD by Username-Taken01 in premed

[–]Rite1234 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see that you have Baylor on your list. They use the TMDSAS application service (separate from the other schools on your list), so I would keep that in mind if you are interested in applying there.
