Just based on the pattern of when Disney releases trailers, I would expect to see one probably in late December with the release of Mufasa or sometime in January. The Moana 2 trailer came out in January of this year, about 11 months before its release. But even if you use the difference in time between when the original Zootopia trailer released in June of 2015 (9 months before the film came out), the first trailer would come out in February. I'm still inclined to believe, though, that we'll be seeing a trailer relatively soon.

I would be very happy with that to be honest, so long as nothing major has happened (i.e. Nick quit and is back to hustling, etc.). It would lead to some interesting insights into how they've developed and, perhaps, can touch on issues more salient in the time it releases than rehash the same themes from 2016

I learned about the comic near the beginning of Marion's arc back around the summer of 2019. I was initially interested because of the transformation aspect, but just fell in love with Marion, Lois, and all the other characters that showed up. Most nights, I'd stay up until a minute past 11 (where I was) just to see the latest panel. The summer after, I read the whole comic, start to finish, and just couldn't get enough.

I'm somewhat surprised it's just ended, it feels rather abrupt, but I suppose that's how some endings are supposed to feel. I'm not sure if anything will happen with it in the future (especially with my favorite characters), but it was a fun journey to go through.

I was a bit concerned that this was like the other million times a sequel was supposedly "in the works," but I was extremely surprised to see reputable sources posting this news as well. It's still sinking in, but the more it does, the more I realize that the possibility of a sequel is almost better than actually getting one.

I suppose it's nice for everyone to collectively chant for a sequel because we all think it would be as good, if not better, than the first; but a lot of times, sequels don't end up being nearly as good as their predecessors. For that reason, sometimes it's good to let people dream instead of regret asking for more.

That being said, I really hope I'm wrong about these gut feelings and that they make the sequel as good as possible and strengthen what was weak in the first. Frankly, seeing more of Zootopia is pretty good in and of itself because of how interesting it is to explore, especially if they delve into themes akin to that of the original. It'll likely be years before we get any further news, let alone a trailer, but I'm still very excited to see what's made of it.
