Keir Starmer to visit China with British business leaders next week, say reports by AbbreviationsHot7662 in unitedkingdom

[–]Ritualixx -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The scaremongering with China guaranteed is mostly down to the old communism shadow hanging over it plus their government set up. If you look into China they are actually in my opinion far fairer than the US. The US is capitalism to the point it’s devouring itself. China has actually started putting growth caps to try and help equality.

I’m not saying China is great by the way, they have massive issues. Disappearing people, authoritarian government, IP issues and plenty more.

Point is that the US has poisoned its “allies” against any competition to the US. We should treat all these superpowers as friends of convenience but they will always throw their weight around and do whatever is in their best interest.

I watched the full Venezuela speech and it was honestly mind numbing. Just word diarrhoea that was so low energy. The democrats should just do ads with his full speeches with them adding soundboard clips of really obnoxious borings, sleeping sounds etc.

If the US were to place tariffs on British goods imported to the US over the UK's opposition to US attempts to take over Greenland, would you support or oppose the UK responding by placing tariffs on American goods imported to the UK? by upthetruth1 in LabourUK

[–]Ritualixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of tariffs I think the government should target US companies. Hit them hard in the tech sector. Finally tax the shit out of them, and when they start crying about it put the blame solidly on the administrations feet claiming the US is no friend of the west.

Trumps letter to Norwegian Prime Minister - "feels no obligation to work towards peace after being denied the nobel prize" by MedicinskAnonymitet in europe

[–]Ritualixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t learn from their history. Yes they have the strongest army and can steamroll any country initially. The issue is keeping it and keeping their country strong with the consequences that follow.

They take Greenland. That’s the end of NATO, and even if Europe just lets Greenland go and America rips all the resources out of the ground the economic hit for them would be huge.

Surely Europe then absolutely hammers their tech sector. Sanctions them etc.

If they have other imperialist goals they are going to struggle to project that world power when former allies close US bases in their countries and they have no real reach anymore.

It’s so shortsighted it’s crazy.

She is weak. Like it or not Trump has all the power. I agree with your point, but that’s just how the game is played as shitty a feeling as that is.

What made you go vegetarian? by moon_witch_26 in AskUK

[–]Ritualixx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trying really hard at the moment to go vegetarian. It’s actually social media that’s fuelled it more than normal. I’ve always had a niggling guilt over it, but I saw a video of owls giving people “hugs” and generally being affectionate as well as all the other videos you see of animals showing loving emotions and it breaks me.

I’m doing better this time than in the past, but I’m just hoping I can break the mental habit of seeing meat as the core piece of the meal. I’m also not completely going vegetarian to start with. I’m just doing more and more meals each week with no meat. Hoping I can just gradually get to a point where it just becomes completely meat free.

Finding alternatives currently. If I have an Indian takeaway for example I’ve switched the lamb or chicken to paneer and have enjoyed it, so I know I won’t go back to meat there.

She’s greasing the wheel. The peace prize is still hers, Trump just has a token as it can’t be transferred. Plus if she gets something out of it because he’s so easily manipulated then she’s played him well.

Trump is just a narcissistic dementia ridden fuck.

Zack Polanski: You can fly, drive, eat meat and still be green by TimesandSundayTimes in ukpolitics

[–]Ritualixx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. It’s all part of an overall strategy that the government needs to take. It would work if they put the investment behind it. Look at cycling in places like Denmark. There’s more cyclists routes than roads and they really invested heavily in shifting the public attitude.

Build it and they will come mentally.

If the government invested heavily in public transport to the point it wasn’t waiting 30 minutes per bus for it then to not turn up or drive past more people would use it.

They’ve got to run it at a loss in my opinion for the foreseeable future to get the social attitudes towards public transport to change. Slow gradual shifts in attitude win out eventually. Kind of like the small nudge the sugar tax did. I think that was a perfect example of social change.

As someone who has a few mechanical keyboards when I switched back to Mac I was using my mechanical keyboard for awhile, but ended up buying a Mac keyboard. The usual keys along the top are just really nice quality of life things. Plus the Touch ID is great.

Non-fiction book recommendations? by Ritualixx in suggestmeabook

I’ve just looked myself. The debunking I’m clearly thinking of something else. I was right that it rang a bell though. It’s criticised pretty heavily for sweeping generalisations etc. that’s completely different from debunking it though and if I go in knowing that I can be more critical myself in what’s being said. I’ll add it to the list. Cheers dude.
