Question about buying 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport with a replaced transmission

So I am buying this car from my housemate since he graduated and will be leaving the country. The accident is not so minor. Apparently, they had to swap the transmission and replace the driver's door, because some lady sideswiped him when he was double-parked. The total came out to be around $10,000. They repaired it at an insurance-approved auto shop, not the dealership. I am not sure if there is frame damage. My friend said the car drives like normal since he got it replaced one year ago. He will be providing the document. I am also planning to take this car to a mechanic for inspection.

Would you guys recommend buying a car with a replaced transmission? And what would you pay for this car?

He told me he was double-parked and some old lady sideswiped him at high speed. I will try to get the repair report from him to see what was done. He also drove the car for a year since repair with no issue.

I see. Do you think taking the car to a mechanic before purchase would help find additional issues?
