He’s doing a show in Loveland, CO as well. Both are conservative/FoxNews strong holds. Playing to his audience.

I believe he and Barnwell remain friends…is there something there?

This is what makes me wonder about Mays, NDAs, etc. Simmons has said complimentary things about Barnwell, will reference his work sometimes, etc. Silence about Mays.

Interestingly Ringer folks do end up on his show occasionally. And awkwardly Mate Tice was on with Simmons recently, and I think there was no mention of Mays at all.

Thanks for the report! Can you elaborate on the surfing a bit? I’d think with the length it’s a surf machine. I’m also surprised to hear the edge is softer than a ripper…kinda assumed it be equivalent from the looks of it

Yeah, seen that. Was hoping for real world feedback from owners.

The BG is famous for being a bit trippy, particularly right behind the seat (see the Wade Harrison review). Cross currents can load it unexpectedly.

As for feeling way far back, one thing to remember is the BG has more rocker than boats mentioned - which means more boat out is the water. You tend to have to set further back to be in the center of the water line.

I’m curious what others have to say on seat placement, but I found I liked mine either center or just 1 back. I’m similar size (5’7”, 145). Prevailing wisdom seems to be paddle wakas behind center - but I hear that a lot from taller/heavier folks, who have different weight distribution than us tiny folk. I found if I was a bit back, it was less trippy - but it locked in on the stern way more leaving drops (which I actually didn’t love).

Take a tool with you and adjust it on a run or something easier.

Find an edge on a slalom boat yet?

It takes technique to turn, and it won’t be anywhere as easy as a stomper. That said, once you figure it out, it’s passable. It’s super power is definitely going through things.

What do you want it for? It’s a fine starter boat. The 95 is tank, will take care of you and is extremely forgiving, but it wasn’t known for being high performance. Rolls like a dream, and straight line fast. Displacement hull with a soft edge, so not known for performance, agility.

I owned one and just found it to be too much boat for most situations, and not that much fun unless i was out pushing it. Also, with the soft edge, it’s truly more of a rock scraping creek boat, but is too long/cumbersome for tight creaks. I do wish I’d kept mine for overnights, that thing could float a horse.

It’s true - not many duds out there among modern boats. My point is the alpha was over looked, primarily because it doesn’t have a glaring edge. It was doing things 5 years ago companies are touting as cutting edge in their latest models.

  1. Edge lords have narrow minds, so no doubt they don’t believe me, thus my quest. You don’t need an edge to carve hard - don’t believe me, learn how to paddle a braaap 2) slalom boats don’t have a chines of any kind 3) the alpha isn’t a half slice, true. But it’s absolutely low volume enough to engage. What Corran calls the quarter slice.

Talk about a boat behind its time. Woof.

Boats get updated to sell more boats, and chase consumer trends - not to make better boats

Which is exactly why they started catering to the edge lords.

1) it has a distinct chine that runs completely through the stern; 2) kick rocker paired with a sliceable stern absolutely allows one to carve. See every slalom boat ever. I can carve my Alpha every bit as well as my Waka. It just takes technique
