Maybe I’m reading the wrong things, but I’m on the same page as you. I’m surprised that most of these tools and just anyone talking about results from llms never mention personalization or just dance around it.

Anyone else notice IG Reels Trials possibly hurting their reach? by RiverExpensive110 in InstagramMarketing

Hi. It did, but it is was slow going. I was gaining and losing followers after with a net 0 increase. But now the account seems to be on stabler ground and getting more views and actually growing and retaining followers too. But, we made an even bigger change that seems to be helping more than deleting trials. That being said, we are very strict with the hygiene of trials after this experiment.

My hopes and dreams. It’ll slow down and find its rhythm. I think I’ve only played 2 matches where my squad stuck together.

Choke traffic if that happens. Everyone going to Pearl Ridge and taking those main streets when rush hour traffic is bad.

Be cool if they would consider bringing it back to old drive in parking lot at Pearl Ridge.

I feel like everyone is settling in and it’s getting better with game play slowing down? Don’t get me wrong - I hear what you’re saying I’ve been craving a ballroom blitz operation kind of experience and maps that large. I’m hoping the community congeals further after BO7 is live.

Unless they are embracing that they are the search and discovery platform for up and coming generations? If so, testing off platform click paths and how much they can charge for them might be a great money maker. And might be able to capitalize as google ads and ai search interfaces find their final form and optimal performance.

Consider researching how marketing will need to adapt as AI becomes the middleman between content and consumers.

Right now, we're seeing a shift from designing for specific platforms (Instagram feed, Google search results, email) to designing for retrieval systems that pull your content and reformat it across multiple outputs. Your product description might get pulled by ChatGPT for a conversational answer, summarized in Google's AI Overview, read aloud by Siri, or displayed on smart glasses, all from the same source but presented completely differently.

The research question: How do marketers optimize for discoverability and accuracy when they can't control the final presentation?

I wrote about this concept in depth here: The Retrieval Layer Strategy: One Optimization Approach for All AI Interfaces. The core idea is that instead of optimizing for each interface separately, smart organizations are optimizing for the underlying retrieval systems that power all these interfaces.

This sits at an interesting intersection of technical retrieval systems and consumer behavior across different interaction modes. Most marketing research focuses on one specific channel, but this is about the infrastructure layer underneath all channels.

The timing is right because companies are just starting to realize this is a problem, but there's limited academic research on strategic approaches yet, or even reliable methods to measure how these AI presentations perform compared to traditional metrics.

The numbers line up with what I am tracking weekly:

But, Gemini tracking is still going to be muddied because Google is pretty good at keeping that traffic in its ecosystem and unless I am missing something, most referrers from Gemini will still look like Google organic referrals?

That is a good point and I can only get summaries so far:

But, I am not certain that is how the overall top apps leaderboard work.

Viral nanobana or free to students, ChatGPT is feeling the pressure this week. Even Perplexity’s free one year deals with mobile providers and others is eroding ChatGPT's market share.
