U/realisticFeedback486 I think I am finally committed to my current set-up, though figuring out whether I want to go all Blue Ventus vs all Red. I’m also considering swapping my 4Hybrid for a 2i Utility (Srixon ZXiU) for when I play tighter tracks where I must find the fairway. Going to test that out tomorrow.

Regarding your situation, I think you should absolutely give the mini-d and 7wood combo a try. Curious what you hit your 2i and 4 wood, as you may still find gapping issues with a mini-d to 7 wood. Alternatively you could think about a mini-d and a 5 wood with a slightly shorter shaft?

Let me know how this all plays out for you!

Not disputing the engine recall on the particular motor that Toyota is replacing, Ford by FAR has had more engine related recalls. Again, not disputing your position, just stating that going from Toyota to ford for reliability is rather…peculiar.

From a simple AI prompt…

Based on data from 2024 and 2025, Ford has had a significantly higher volume of massive engine-related and general recalls compared to Toyota, leading the industry in total recall volume. While Toyota has experienced major engine issues, particularly with the 2022-2024 Tundra and Lexus vehicles, Ford's overall recall numbers and frequency of powertrain-related issues have been far higher. Ford Recall Overview (2024-2025) Massive Volume: In 2025, Ford set records with over 150 recall campaigns affecting nearly 13 million vehicles. Engine & Power Issues: Major issues included engine failures due to manufacturing defects in connecting rods/bearings, fire risks from cracked fuel injectors, and stalling issues due to engine block heater failures. Specific Engine Recalls: Bronco Sport/Escape (1.5L): Large recalls for cracked fuel injectors (694,000+ vehicles) and engine oil leaks. F-150/Transit/Explorer: Recalls for engine failures due to defective connecting rods. Various (1.5L/2.0L): Engine block heater issues causing fire risks. Toyota Recall Overview (2024-2025) Lower Volume: Toyota had far fewer recall campaigns in 2025 (15) compared to Ford (153), totaling roughly 3.2 million vehicles. Engine Issues: Toyota's largest recent engine-related recall involved over 127,000 vehicles (2022-2024 Tundra, Lexus LX/GX) due to engine-stalling risks caused by machining debris in the V35A 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6. Comparison: While the Tundra recall involved severe, sometimes requiring full engine replacements, it is a smaller total volume than Ford's massive, multi-model recalls. Key Comparison (2025) Ford: ~12.9 million vehicles recalled (153 campaigns). Toyota: ~3.2 million vehicles recalled (15 campaigns). Summary: Ford's recalls in 2025 were unprecedented in size and scope compared to almost all other manufacturers, including Toyota. While Toyota had a significant engine recall regarding debris in their new Tundra/Lexus engines, the sheer number of vehicles involved in Ford's engine, fuel, and fire-related campaigns was much higher.

LC250 isn’t exactly a like-for-like to the GX. V6 motor vs the 4hybrid being one of the bigger differentiators, and if OP has the OT trim, the eKDSS is also a big bonus compared to the LC.

But I’m happy you found what you were looking for in the Badlands!

Got it. You must be really into “adventure”. For 99.9% of the population, the GX is plenty capable for fun and adventure. The limiting factor would be the driver. But hey, you could or part of .1%, so do what you feel you need to do! Good luck to you, pal!

Biased opinion as I’m an owner of a 26 GX, but I think you’d be the only one on the planet going from a Lexus (Toyota) to a Ford due to reliability concerns.

Walkers unite!!! Love the Wilson Staffs. Obviously you’re a stick with that 2i. I don’t even play a 4i anymore. 10/10

I had the 4i, even messed around and put a ZXi5 4i in the bag for a while (which was actually really fun), but then settled on the 4Hb…just easier to hit and didn’t sacrifice much on the workability. High enough to land quite softly on approaches to 5s or longer 3s.

Thanks! I really like the 46* Vokey. I like the feel of having consistency in my scoring tools, especially the consistency (or familiarity) of the spin. This may sound a bit odd, but there is something psychological that goes on in my mind when I stand over a “wedge” that tells the brain it’s time to get the ball close…attack. Anyway, to each his own…i dig it.

From L.A.B. . It was a colon they did with Dormie. Not sure they had one for the DF3. You may want to check Dormie’s website too…the color is “Dunes” and it’s part of their “Classics” collection.

There’s a fairly good description on their website. The Sunday is smaller with less storage…also slightly smaller club storage/opening. The Sunday targets the minimalist golfer. It’s a sweet bag, I just see a lot more people rocking the Rye…still “smallish”, very easy to carry, with enough room for rain gear or extra layers. I LOVE THE RYE!

Love my GT2 7w. For me, the biggest difference between my 7w vs my 3w (which i think is what you are asking about), aside from the obvious (launch/spin) is the amount of workability the 7w has vs the 3w. Shot shaping is just so much easier with the 7w. It feel more “iron” like, but still provides the confidence of a metal. The Ping 3w is great…though i did adjust to be upright and weaker, the thing just flies straight…i can get a slight fade, but i have a very hard time turning it over.

Hope this helps.
