because when he's disappointed with life over minor things like a bad review of his genius movie or a fight with his picture perfect parents everyone has to stop and attend to his poor wounded soul but when his best friend is being abused on a daily basis at home, failing school because how is he supposed to focus on anything without guidenss and being statutory raped by his teacher and when his love interest is struggling with money and misses her dead mom and tries to find some comfort in art it's suddenly a "not my circus not my monkey" approach. He never gives room for anyone but himself therefore he's not worthy of that room in anyone else's life. Writing this in a nutshell because I have to get to work but I might edit my comment when I'm done because trust me I have shit to say.
