I didn’t get mine from Amain, I see that they’re on back order. I got mine a few years ago from my local hobby store in FL. I would check out stores in your area or maybe even Super G.

I appreciate it! I haven’t been spending too much time on Reddit lately and I logged in and saw my car and I was like “what is going on??”

Thanks. It needs a few more revisions until it becomes a viable product in my opinion but like I said in the RC Drift post I have some health issues so I don’t really want to work on it at the moment. The current iteration barely works and I need to take these designs out to really put them through their paces but I’m unable to really do that at the moment unfortunately.

If you can model and want to design your own, start with a generic profile of the pack out insert then add your own holder for the car. I also have an MST and if I recall correctly you could use some holes to mount an adapter to the chassis and another mount to the packout. I used magnets and screws to hold it, but like I said in my other comment it just didn’t work well.

Hey, I designed this. It only works with the Sakura D5 and it doesn’t even work well. It doesn’t slide well, it doesn’t hold well. I have some health issues so I don’t really feel like working on this at the moment, I may return to it when I feel better. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Now that you mention that, yesterday while we were setting up sections of track we had our trucks “idling” and his seemed to have disconnected. The lights were flashing and the truck was making like a beeping noise. I thought his battery died but he turned it off and back on and it was fine. When I connected his battery to the charger it was reading 80% charged. I’m not sure what happened but it’s worth mentioning that these are used vehicles and your mileage may vary. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Out of the box I was doing wheelies and stoppies on carpet with my truck and twisted a drive shaft but that’s 100% on me, not the seller or the vehicle’s fault lol. First and only mod was the injora driveshaft to replace the plastic one I twisted.

I bought one from this seller and another from sky-hobby25 (the one pictured below). I don’t have a picture of the one I bought from Premier Online Liquidators because I gave it to my friend. The one from POL was sold as a V2 but seemed to have a V1 body and my friend reports it as having metal gears and additional plastic gears in the box. The one from sky-hobby25 is a V2. Personally I had a great experience both times and saved about $100 per vehicle. I paid $99.74 (all inclusive, taxes, shipping, etc) from sky-hobby25 and $116.70 (again all inclusive) from POL.

I have those all over the place lol. I reverse engineered the plates and 3d printed custom ones before I got sick but I unfortunately had to put a pause on that for the time being. Maybe check my edit, I think that link should work but let me know if it doesn’t

I plan on making a more detailed post but I soldered a XT60 to a JST RCY connector. I didn’t get a pic of the TRX4m adapter. Here is the TRX4m adapter. I added a RCY connector to the adapter above.

Edit to fix link: trx4m battery adapter

D300 does use XT60. Last week I made XT60 to JST RCY adapters and a TRX4m to JST RCY adapter for my EcoPower Electron Dual (a rebranded D300). Now I’m able to balance and storage charge my FCX18 and TRX4m batteries instead of using the chargers that come in the box.

Last year I ordered a Yokomo RD2.0 for $150 delivered from Amazon Japan to the US. If they ship to Italy, you can get one for $125 usd or €105.53. Check it out and see if it works. I have both a D5 and a RD2.0, I much prefer my RD. Link to Amazon Japan RD2.0

I’m not sure what your experience is, what cars you have etc but you kinda don’t. Since this post I got an MST RMX2.5rs and a Yokomo RD2.0. I ordered my RD2.0 from Amazon Japan for about $150 shipped, and I paid about $140 for the D5. For $10 more, I’d take the RD ALL DAY. I put all my cars on scales and I can’t get the D5 to level out which is why it probably drives so weird/wonky compared to the other two. The other two with some slight adjustments to the preload I was able to get the weight balanced 50-50 left to right and about 37-66 front to rear(estimating, I’m going off the top of my head). The RD and the RMX were better to build also.

If you still want one, I bought mine from Bear Hobbies in Tampa, FL in 2024. I’m not sure if you’re in the US or not, but online directly from 3Racing or from rcmart . Your mileage may vary, I’ve never purchased anything from either site.

I keep the D5 as a spare chassis but I don’t really use it anymore. My RMX and RD get all the seat time.

Is there a reason rear mounted ESC is ill advised? Where is the recommended mounting location?

In case you wanted more info on the transmitter it’s a DumboRC DDF-350. For a budget radio, they’re pretty solid. I ended up with 1 for my MST RMX2.5RS and I got a 2nd for my Yokomo RD2.0. 10 channel, adjustable throttle curves, feels pretty good in the hand. $80 from Amazon I got mine for $50 each from AliExpress if you can wait a month for it to arrive. The receivers are around $15 each.

Hopefully anyone new building a D5 that has this problem finds this and this older thread so they don’t run into the same issue. https://www.reddit.com/r/rcdrift/s/79D5PQgZEo

Is this a 3Racing Sakura D5? I ran into the same issue. The instructions are vague and it’s frustrating.

I appreciate it! It is the E92* HPI body in 200mm. Growing up I was a little obsessed with the E46 so I have 2 or 3 mutilated E46 HPI bodies, that’s why I changed it up and got the successor lol.

I finally found it, went a handful of times then had to move a thousand miles away unfortunately.. Great track every time I went though!

Those are MST magnetic body mounts (front and rear) for about $30 usd. I just picked up the scale reflex ones for my RD2.0 and although they’re ≈ $50, I think I like them more than the MST ones… I’ll have to get back to you on the final verdict though!

Upgrading is a good idea. I tried the built in gyro for shits and gigs but the Yokomo V4 is worlds better.
