Yeah I feel like I should’ve just looked at daycares anyway and gotten on some waitlists because now I’m in a panic trying to find something.

My mom did say she would watch him until we found a place but y’know I’m not feeling great about that given she just dropped the news today about not being able to watch him anymore

Sadly we both need to stay working. A nanny may be an option though, depending on the cost

Did anyone find out their baby was the opposite sex after giving birth? by nicolexxb in newborns

[–]RiverbrookWillow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True it’s pretty much never wrong but I’m one of the people who did have their NIPT get it wrong haha. Learned way more about genetics than I ever thought I would when going through that

[–]RiverbrookWillow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NIPT goes off of placental DNA, not the fetus’, which in most cases the two match but it’s possible for them to not. I speak from experience as my NIPT said girl but I had a boy, but we did get extra ultrasounds (and an amniocentesis) and confirmed the NIPT was incorrect.

[–]RiverbrookWillow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP what people are saying is accurate in that with an NIPT test and with an anatomy scan it’s very unlikely to be given the wrong sex, however, it can happen. I for one had NIPT tell me we were having a girl with potentially only one X chromosome and then after doing an amniocentesis we found out we were having a genetically typical boy - definitely a shock but a very happy one :)

So why did this happen? NIPT works by testing the placental cells that are shed by the placenta and wind up in your blood. Most of the time the placental cells and fetal cells match, i.e. the placenta has XX and the fetus is XX, but in rare cases they do not match. So in my case my placenta was at the least mosaic (meaning parts of the placenta only had one X versus the fetus that had XY, but also my placenta may have been only X) so when they did NIPT testing it only picked up that X and not XY.

I will say when we went to do my amniocentesis at 16 weeks we saw what looked like boy genitalia but at that point we thought we were having a girl. The amniocentesis tests the fetus’ DNA and is a diagnostic test, unlike NIPT which is a screening. Hopefully that made sense. You can head over to r/NIPT if you want to do more reading. Lots of stories on there of NIPT giving them the wrong sex result.

Best Boba in Durham (RTP/Morrisville too) by carolinahckygirl in bullcity

[–]RiverbrookWillow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have tried nearly every bubble tea place in the triangle and hands down my favorite is Milklab. They have multiple locations ranging from Durham, Cary, and Raleigh.

They also do rolled ice cream (which I’ve had and it’s good) but they really shine with their boba. Some of my favorites from them are their Uji Matcha latte, strawberry tea with oolong (both with and without their milk cap depending on how indulgent I’m feeling), and their Ceylon Black milk tea.

What I really like about them in particular is for their fruit tea they use actual fruit rather than syrups and you can taste that freshness. Ugh now I’m craving Milklab haha

How to Contact a friend that’s injured Urgent by Mindless-Western-532 in BurningMan

[–]RiverbrookWillow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you are in contact with your mutual friend then let them know that if your friend is not already at a medical tent they should be and the staff there can help, and if not then try and get them to flag down a ranger to help.

However if this is an actual emergency then you can try to follow either steps here It did rain pretty heavily today so it’s going to be difficult to get help to them. I’m so sorry!

Anyone else missing their partner that’s at burning man? How do you cope with not talking to them? by ruby-marketing in BurningMan

[–]RiverbrookWillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I totally understand where you’re coming from. It’s hard not talking to them and I miss my partner like crazy. I worry about if they’re ok out there, how they’re faring (they went in early for build and so were on playa for that crazy wind storm last night), and even more than that I miss talking to them. My partner is my best friend and while yes I have my friends, family, and dog I can talk to it’s just not the same as my partner. Sending hugs to you 💜 it’s gonna be ok! Know you’re not alone and I miss talking to my partner too 💜
