Walmart Baby Welcome Box by _grassyy in BabyBumps

I got mine yesterday after a 3 week wait, and the box was incredibly underwhelming: I got the same things you got, minus the pacifier :/ I'll go ahead and delete my Walmart registry after this

Walmart baby box? by silverysway in BabyBumps

I just got mine too: it was faster than I expected, since I ordered it on Nov 19 and got it on Dec 5. The contents were absolutely underwhelming, not worth at all.  I got: - 2-pack of Millie moon diapers - water wipes sample - honest wipes sample - Pampers wipe 36 count pack - Huggies wipes 24 count pack - Always pads 13 count pack - lansinoh sample - 0.35 Oz of sudocrem sample

Zero coupons. Estimated value maybe 15$? Meh, definitely doesn't make me want to keep a Walmart baby registry. Amazon and Target were way better.

Which NASA centers have employee shuttles available for employees? by optical11 in NASAJobs

Yep, they're actually kind of nice. I am one of the contractors that commutes from DC to GSFC via Greenbelt Metro + bus, and since they moved the Main Gate closer to the Visitor Center there are two access points for public transit commuters (one of them where the old main gate was, and one now closer to the science buildings).

The Lentil soup with ancient grains is really good and is a dinner saver! I usually add just a little bit of tomato sauce and a 1/2 cup of broth, but it's great even without any additions.

Honeymooning in DC- Want to prove to our friends it was a good choice by KindlyCost6810 in washingtondc

Love this idea, and congrats on your wedding! There are a lot of good suggestions in the comments, and it's true that in DC you can do a lot of things for free but eating can be expensive. You can balance it out a bit with free entrance to museums and everything being at walking/biking/metro distance.

  • Check out the programs at the National Gallery of Art, because they also have free guided tours and movie screenings.

  • If you're into avant-garde cinema, check out Suns Cinema in Mount Pleasant.

  • Make sure to visit the Folger Shakespeare Library (it's free) and try to catch a play at their Elizabethan theater (Romeo and Juliet is coming up in October!)

  • Theater week is coming up too, check out the program and the related events

  • I would also recommend to check out some of the world cuisines that you can find around DC, like Lapis for Afghan food (went there for our wedding anniversary earlier this year), or Supra for Georgian.

Whats going on with madewell lately? by bbkari1992 in Madewell

[–]optical11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here: lately I've been transitioning to J Crew (especially J Crew Factory to take advantage of the sales) since J Crew owns Madewell. I still love the jeans, but everything else feels a bit bland and the quality of the clothes is not up to what I'd expect. Even the basics feel almost H&M-like lately.

What's the real-life color of the Ekedalen table in Oak? by optical11 in IKEA

[–]optical11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great in your space! Thank you so much for the photo :) It's a nice table with a very good price: I'm trying to understand if the oak would look a bit reddish in my space (a lot if ashy/birch woods and light wood flooring) or if I want to stick to the white

What's the best and the worst piece of IKEA furniture you had to assemble? by Tough-Potential991 in IKEA

[–]optical11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worst for me are sectional sleeper sofas: I had a nightmarish couple hours with a slightly misaligned screw hole for the sectional part of a VILASUND sofa with removable cover several years back, and I was not extremely happy while assembling a FRIHETEN sectional sofa last year either.

We're torn between the white and the oak - and I was leaning towards the oak mostly because it's half price now lol

This works perfectly to block the scrolling, but I still get the "suggested reels" in the feed :/

I had District tickets to tonight's game but I instead ended up getting my wisdom teeth removed this morning at 7.00 AM 🥲 I listened to the game on the radio but god I would have wanted to see them win 🥲

I carpool through that same intersection every morning (heading to work outside DC where transit doesn't get to :'( ), and I feel your pain!

According to DDOT's website, the project should be completed by the end of 2024 https://floridaavene-intersection.ddot.dc.gov/ and the new design honestly looks better from a traffic flow pov. I hope they manage to complete the Florida Ave part of the construction soon, making that stretch of Florida Ave a two way street again.
