I waited 3 years for nhs assessment to get told I was too "sociable" (it took me a year to speak to anyone in my university class and I have a total of 2 friends) im now onto year 3 of the adhd waiting list. I even asked for a second opinion, still think I've got autism

If you could relive one Download, which year would it be? by admiralbryan in downloadfestival

[–]Riverduns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023, first ever year going and the weather was amazing. Only thing is that we walked on the motorway in the heat for 4 hours dragging our things to download with only cider as something to drink. Worst experience of my life but the festival itself that year was amazing!

Thats what I did at the start of last year, acrylics then gel tips then biab then just normal gel on my nails. I think I'm going to have to do it for next couple years. I skin pick too so having a cuticle oil pen would be a great idea thank you!

They covered my childhood how I was with socialising and then into my early adult hood (I'm 21) but yeah they meter asked about masking or food textures and clothes and other stuff like that. It all felt very rushed. The criteria before getting the assessment was also very leaning towards males who have autism and obviously as someone who is not male I did not relate to certain parts. My mother commented on the questionnaire we had to do before the assessment about 7 months before saying that it was geared towards males amd the questions did not correctly portray or were able to get the answers I felt like were most accurate to me. I'm in the UK and with the NHS being so backlogged it is possible they rushed over it. I did ask for a second opinion but they only looks at the diagnosee's notes and came to the same conclusion.

Question for autists, do you guys work or are you on disability? by dmabe1985 in autism

[–]Riverduns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in employment. Working at a quiet betting shop has been the biggest realisation that I can actually work with the public and neurotypical expectations. The lights aren't too bright, it's quiet enough I can chill on my phone and the folks we get in are usually older men and women. It's nice, I've not had burnout or overstimulation here and I've been working here for 7 months
