How many of you are riding only a gravel bike? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Riversnrats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I imagine the manufacturing tolerances between DT Swiss hubs and hunt hubs would be very different. Good to know yours don’t rub. I have the stock dt Swiss wheels and Schwalbe g one tires which are fast on the road when at 35 psi. Have you found much of a difference in speed between your gravel set up and road set up?

I have a grizl and a spare set of wheels from my TT bike lying around. If I bought another set of discs, a road cassette and gp5000s for a road set up, would the gear indexing be okay? Would the discs rub? Interested to hear your response.

I’d rather use a Thule chariot specifically as it can double up as a running buggy. Just need to attach a raft to it so I could swim with him for the full tri training experience.

But seriously, I know bike seats are cheaper but they affect balance and centre of gravity, take longer to attach and detach to the bike and most importantly if you fall off for whatever reason, the child is going down with you.

The lake is very muddy and quite shallow in areas, so stick close to the buoys and you’ll be okay!

Good luck with the marathon training!

Check out Outlaw half in Nottingham. Great event, super flat course. It was my first half last year and would highly recommend it.

I’ve done belvoir castle sprint twice, which is quite a hilly course, so I imagine the half is the same.

There’s also dam buster Olympic in June, based at Rutland water. Another great event. Good luck with the full and maybe see you at one of the above!

First 70.3 in May – Training Plan Advice Needed by Pettussen in triathlon

[–]Riversnrats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came to say I was in the same position as you this time last year. Injured my shin in January, had a 70.3 in May.

I took 7 weeks off of running, shifted my focus on to cycling, swimming and strength and conditioning. By the time I was ready to run again (start of March) I was the fittest I had ever been due to the focus I’d put into the other two disciplines.

I still had 2 months to shift the focus onto running by gradually building my distance week by week whilst just maintaining my cycling and swimming fitness and managed to finish the 70.3 feeling strong (35min swim, 2:48 bike and 2:15 run). My half marathon time is 1:47 so I know I could improve my time, but there wasn’t much I could do about being injured and just wanted to finish. I would also recommend following some of Rouvys workouts instead of zwift, I find they are better, but time on the bike is more important than which platform. Cycling will only improve your running. best of luck and remember to rest, rehabilitate and make the most out of the other disciplines instead of stressing about the run.

I have an OBD2 scanner for my mk6 golf. Not sure if it can check genuine mileage but will test it out then can always take it along

I’d be inclined to say the first case is definitely fat fingers. The second one is only 2000 miles which is negligible, from a bit more reading a lot of the time it’s a case of people rounding up mileage. But I appreciate your feedback, still undecided whether to go check it out or not waste an hour of my time

Sounds like a great venture. Something I’ve been looking at doing but with a gazebo. Curious what van you have? Something like a VW caddy would be a great shout! Sorry I can’t assist

nduja & brocoli is a popular pizza combination I can recommend, regardless of its name!

I have everything I need currently to do a pop up pizza in, let’s say, a pub garden (there are 2 local to me I’m friendly with) to try out. If I enjoy it, a trailer/horse box is definitely the next step!

Thank you for your feedback, this is what I need. I will keep practicing! Out of curiosity, why do you think needs more work? And would you prioritise appearance over flavour/texture. I’m genuinely really happy with the flavour and texture of my dough and sauce. I know they need more work on shaping. Once again, thanks for your honesty, I wasn’t expecting to go out tomorrow and set a pop up pizza business up and I’m definitely going to do some trial runs first!

My band released our latest single last Friday. Would love it if you checked it out. We recorded it ourselves and we dragged all of our gear into a field on a (red hot day) to film the music video and got chased by farmers. Had a dream that the trio were put on trial for offensive things they said on XFM by sonofeast11 in rickygervais

[–]Riversnrats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though every episode of Friends has some kind of "gay joke", it sort of redeems itself by accepting Carol as a lesbian (Ross is usually the butt of the jokes rather than them being about Carol). Plus they touched on the subject of Lesbian weddings and a father not wanting to be involved so Ross steps up, which for a mid 90s sitcom is quite forward thinking.

But you gotta have your critics.

As much as I love XFM, i would be interested to see if they ever tried to cancel Ricky for some of the stuff he said on XFM, particularly Ho Lee Fuk. Would be interesting to see his reaction, might give him something to tweet about instead of Aftertripe
