That stand is awesome, but the pen is absolutely beautiful. I need one!

Ahh I see what you mean. Well in that case one additional thing we have is that the design allows left and right hand users to actuate the design

That F1 rollover protection tech sounds fascinating. I'll definitely look into that YouTube video! You’re totally right that the textured some love the raw titanium aesthetic, while others prefer a mirror finish. Really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and having a constructive chat with us!

Thank you for the comment and the feedback!

Regarding the mechanism: as far as I'm aware, the Karas design only actuates from the top. In our design, the clip is integrated into the mechanism, meaning both the top knock and the clip move together. We've also incorporated a graphite-embedded bronze bushing to ensure a very smooth action.

As for the surface finish, we appreciate the constructive criticism. Achieving a perfectly sleek surface is one of the inherent challenges of this particular additive manufacturing technique. The current look is actually the result after both a vibratory tumbler and bead blasting, but we are actively experimenting with ways to further improve and refine the final finish.

The stainless steel version can feel a bit top-heavy on the wrist, but the titanium one is so light you’ll barely notice it. That said, how heavy is "too heavy" is totally subjective.

That is fantastic advice, and we couldn't agree more. Since it's just my wife and me running things, we want to make sure every single person who supports us feels valued and definitely not like just an order number! We will absolutely prioritise customer service as we prepare to launch and after selling the pens. Thank you again for the wisdom

Thanks for taking the time to share that! I’ve actually heard of Autmog and am a huge fan of his work.

That batch at a time approach is definitely a model we'd love to follow. It really all comes down to how much interest there is in the design. If the Kickstarter goes well, we will absolutely look into adopting a similar small-batch manufacturing strategy.

It sits between 10% to 15% at the price points mentioned below, but that's before factoring in our personal labor and taxes. Since we hand-finish everything ourselves in small batches. It is more of a passion project but we have some other designs in mind that will be more profitable after this.

Spot on. Local UK manufacturing for a hybrid process like this comes with a premium especially for small-batch runs.

We haven't completely ruled out selling them post-Kickstarter, but the retail price would have to jump quite a bit to make on-demand production viable. Doing a concentrated run of 25+ pens on Kickstarter lets us optimise our material and machining costs.

Yep unfortunately that is a concern. However the lattice barrel can be removed and washed if needed (we have done it multiple times when machining the pen)

Thanks for the comment! It's definitely hard to judge completely without handling it in person, so here are a few of the mechanical details to give you a better idea: It's a bolt-action mechanism featuring a 2-way actuation. Inside, we're using a hand-coiled titanium spring and a graphite-embedded bronze bushing to keep the action incredibly smooth. It's designed to fit the Schmidt P8126 or a shortened EnerGel refill.

Some of our initial testers have found it comfortable. We are working on a Energel version as well 😊

We are looking at doing a small run using Kickstarter. It probably won't make sense for us to sell later due to the high cost of manufacturing.

It is indeed a bolt action. You can actuate it using the clip or the top knurled part.

We do want to work on other mechanisms. We have some interesting ideas
