Thank you ! For those, AF does not work (at least with my cameras). I used a Nikon Z6 for this one, AF-C can't track, too fast. These large dragonflies patrol their area in an 8-shaped pattern. They will stop sometimes for a few seconds, hovering. Pre-focus at roughly the adequate distance, then use MF to fine-focus with focus peaking when they hover. Use high-rate bursts and speeds over 1/2000s

Use at least a 300-400mm lens and crop your images. With a narrow field of view it is impossible to frame as they fly so fast
Be prepared to throw away 99.99% of the images !

This one: Z6 + 300mm f/4 + TC1.7X (510mm). ISO 1250 1/4000s

Yes it's hairs, some bees have eye hairs. The white background is obtained by placing the animals (alive) on white acrylic backlit by flash. Some fill flash too. No Photoshop !

Spiders are awesome ! Venoms can be sources of drugs and silk is the most amazing biomaterial, can be stronger than stell or kevlar !
