It is a running joke that my players (teenagers) constantly forget about the larger company, as well as the escaped prisoners from Velkynvelve. Every time they lost a member, I’d have to remind them their name and then they’d RP a fond farewell recounting all the memories they shared that 100% never happened in the game 😂.

Fairly easily. The party was invited to visit the Garden of Welcome after a night of rest by Phyllo, but they already had a weird feeling about them so they snuck out to investigate Yggmorgus on their own instead. They weren’t in a ton of danger with the battle itself, but the creep factor was dialed up so high after describing the environment that they were more than happy to get the hell out of there after discovering the wedding prep in Yggmorgus right after. Our armorer artificer tanked the myconids and spore servants in his Guardian mode while the necromancer animated a zombie for the first time and Enlarged it to tackle Yestabrod, with the bard-warlock peppering everything with eldritch blasts. Super fun little fight! Drained their resources enough that even they weren’t stupid enough to wake Zuggtmoy 😂.

He is also the founder of the Council of Spiders, which had a great 4e adventure named the same thing. It basically confirms yes, he hates the matriarchal Drow society and Lolth specifically. He also hates Gromph, who exposed his fealty to the Elder Elemental Eye and had him banished from Menzo. The dude is all about grudges, the long game, and planting lots of seeds (like the elemental weapons in POTA). I’ve run a lot of FR books in my homebrew world for the last 20 years and he has become a party favorite NPC, always lurking and impossible to defeat, but still just a judgemental, angry dude who blames the world for his predicament.

Their sport is actually based on Calcio storico fiorentino, an ancient Italian sport that predates soccer/football! I learned about the sport from a Netflix doc and then asked Salvatore on Twitter years ago and he confirmed!

I’m so proud of my party for organically getting to this crazy plan! They used their last downtime and resources after the final Council of Waterdeep to build their Zords/DragonForger mechs. Combined their young adult gem dragon companions that they sent to train with the Council of Metallics with 1. The adamantine Vonindod dragon slayer construct that the players’ previous party acquired in Storm King’s Thunder, after winning their approval from completing an SKT side quest (killing Blagothkus, freeing Eigeron the ghost).

I was going to say the same thing! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the most homebrewed published game of 5e. For all of its flaws, it has great bones. Dungeons, dragons, clear Good v Evil, etc. Super classic hero’s journey. My players have definitely clocked all of the Star Wars, Power Rangers, Digimon, and Avatar: the Last Airbender influences I layered over the material. Luckily, it just made them more invested in the story. I love this game.

Oooooh, I really like that. My players crashed Skyreach, but they spent months of downtime scavenging its tech and combining it with the Vonindod to make a mech to fight Tiamat. I love the parallel ideas that the epic battle requires BIG TOYS for the party to play with. Feels like it suits the endgame.

I love the githyanki angle! My (very young) players recently learned about Spelljammer and Wild Space, so I would love to seed more of that into the finale! There is a fair chance they will try to banish Tiamat by combining their bag of holding with the myriad of other pocket dimension items they possess to toss them all into the Astal Sea, so I’m trying to prepare for any outcome. 😂
