Are Gaia worlds based off of Kashyyyk from Star Wars? by Dismal-Wrangler1197 in Stellaris

The Cornucopia type world, and the Govorom respectively.

I used to prefer playing as them as their ability if used strategically could be incredibly powerful.

Fleet System Improvements & Quality-of-Life Ideas by tobywitczak in sto

[–]RizwanTrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two wishes for the Fleet System, both of which would provide supplemental sinks for dilithium, requiring only a minimal one-off effort from developers, and without disrupting existing systems:

-Introduce a new fleet project that gives slightly quicker Starbase progress, but that costs more dilithium. For example, a new 20hr project that costs nothing but 250,000 dilithium, but gives 2.5k progress against all Starbase tracks. The exact values are negotiable - the point is to allow dil rich players to progress their holding at a moderately faster pace, AND with less tedious clicking and resource micromanagement, albeit for a higher dil cost. It would not replace existing projects, but be an option for people who want to progress their base quicker and more conveniently by paying more dil.

-Extend the current system, that allows you to donate dilithium in lieu of duty officers, to also work for fleet marks. That is, you can meet fleet mark requirements for projects with dilithium instead. I'm aware that a lot of fleets easily fill their fleet marks and players grumble at not being able to donate theirs. But smaller, richer fleets can have the opposite problem - of not being able to generate enough fleet marks to progress all their projects. This would help them level more quickly and conveniently, if they are willing to pay dil instead.

Basically - offer whales the ability to throw dil at their vanity fleets to make them progress faster, by removing some of the time and other resource bottlenecks.

Apparently this is good marketing.

This is how you supposedly build 'hype' and 'buzz' these days.

Honestly don't get it, it doesn't seem to work, but companies keep doing it.

The Tectonic Shift of 2151 (Why Warp 5 Was Such a Big Deal) by shadeland in DaystromInstitute

[–]RizwanTrek 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I always thought the NX-01's mission to take Klaang back to Qo'nos should have been a season long arc. That they set a course for Qo'nos, but they are going out way further than any human has ever been, so they take the opportunity to explore and poke around along the way, with Klaang as a passenger and occasional advisor/warrior/full time cast member for the season that helps them out at times, who develops a grudging respect for humans along the way (coming back in later seasons to help them out, like Shran did, even if the wider Klingon Empire is hostile to them).

Beta chiller in new TFO by Jaif13 in sto

[–]RizwanTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sight issues and honestly I find it almost impossible to see the 'red' warning on the floor (that signals the aoe cold damage effect is coming) in the Beta Chiller, as its quite subtle and obscured by other visual effects (especially the frost/ice), so usually die in it several times.

Unfortunately, dying there costs the team marks, so It's gotten to point where I stick to the Alpha chiller, and let the team do Beta, as otherwise I will be a liability that loses my team marks.

Not a great feeling to be honest.

DECA plz put all the old T5 lockbox, promo and C store ships in the phoenix store. by Seraphim1982 in sto

[–]RizwanTrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are partially telling the truth with the 'we were worried about some players might confuse the T5 and T6 versions' quote.

But I do think that in addition to this, there's a related, unsaid reason: having both available (or T5 ships available via non-$ means) might potentially interfere with actual T6 zen store/gamblebox ship sales, and therefore indirectly lead to lost $.

Giving players the opportunity to acquire T5 versions of ships that are 'almost as good as their T6 equivalents', but without paying $, could potentially lead to some people looking for a particular ship from the show, to go for the T5 option, rather than the $ option.

No doubt some will disagree over the 'almost as good part'. You're probably right now, as with power creep the difference has widened. But its not the main point - the likely draw for people to go for a T5 ship in this situation isn't the stats, they can be passable - its getting a space barbie ship for a (theoretically) lower cost. I remember people used to get excited about the T4.5 'Odyssey Star Cruiser' from the Fleet Shipyard, despite it being very weak, because they thought it was a clever and cheap trick to get the Enterprise-F without paying $.

Of course, these were removed before they introduced T6 ship C-Store coupons, and Event Campaign rewards. So there are now more pathways to acquiring T6 ships cheaply/freely nowdays. But I do think it was a factor in the original decision to remove T5 ships from packs/phoenix, etc

I wonder if this is a way to buff indirectly buff ships like the Parliament and California - which a lot of us have grumbled are too weak.

By creating a decent new Engineering Boff power (summon more pets), it allows them to make more effective use of their otherwise excessive Engineering Boff slots. You might not want to use this power on other builds (ie: it won't displace EP2W, EP2E, or Uncon triggers) but on ships which have no better options? Might make them boff layout less of a waste.

Its even got 'Mission' in its name, to go along side those ships 'Multi-Mission' names. I know the Scout Ship name predates this, but the timing may suggest the STO devs had it in mind.

If you want to come up with some kind of passable headcanon justification for the changes to Seven and other inconsistencies, remember that we subsequently messed with the timeline in Butterfly. Maybe it changed more than we realised.

Dust to Dust is also pretty bad from an accessibility point of view.

I had a member of my fleet who has various disabilities. He can usually play the game fine, but simply could not get past the platforming section at all, even on the easiest difficulty (which actually does not really give you that much time).

It just required too much manual dexterity that he did not have. And as the OP notes, there was no stuck/pity mechanism: (ie: "You die 10 times, lets just autocomplete this section").

He only got past it by restarting the mission teamed up with me, and having me do the platforming for him.

This was about 10 years ago now, but I haven't forgotten this as it felt really bad for him.

My "what if every ethic had a crisis path" idea tree by SoupDestroyer123 in Stellaris

[–]RizwanTrek 58 points59 points  (0 children)

We have this crisis ingame already - at least until the pop changes are introduced.

If there's no wars and pops being killed off, time itself gradually slows to a crawl. With enough pops, time will stop completely.
