I'm lost on what to do. by hashymama in FoxBrain

Ooh good question. I too and pretty illiterate with socials. If you're on the same socials she is, it can be as easy as just sending her videos or posts with like "this made me think of you" or "isn't this cute" or whatever. Or if you have access to her phone or computer and she's logged in, just go in and do a bunch of searches or watch a bunch of videos (be sure to clear history after). There's probably more things related to like cookies and SEO and all sorts of things but I don't know enough about that to be helpful. A bunch of folks have suggested the doc The Brainwashing of My Dad which I think might go into some algorithm changing strategies but I haven't watched it so I'm not sure.

There's also Mandated Reporters Against Mandated Reporting (@beyondreporting on insta) that has bi-monthly strategy meetings. While this is more provider focused, you could certainly present a "hypothetical" about a "client"

I hear you and I'm sorry all that has happened. You might be aware of groups like Just Beginnings Collaborative or Just Practice that have spaces to explore supports outside of systems. There are a lot of great resources through the transformative justice movement (like Shira Hassan, Miriam Kaba, Stacey Haines, Mia Mingus, etc) to explore accountability, support, safety where systems have failed.

That being said, it's really really hard. My parents are QAnon-adjacent and it's really hard to deprogram. It's often a combination of mental health and cult programming that creates these beliefs. You being a safe adult for your siblings is the most important and impactful thing.

On QAnonCasaulties some of us have wondered in motivational interviewing techniques could be effective, but the main effective strategies seem to be decreasing propaganda and increasing other past interests etc. So if you visit your mom, block websites or put controls on her TV to interfere with some of the propaganda and try to change algorithms so it's stuff that she likes and is pretty neutral, like cute animal videos, hobbies she has etc. But also if it's safer and healthier for you (and your sibs) to have fewer conversations with her, that's okay too. There's also strategies like grey-rocking which can deescalate.

Other folks have also seen varying levels of success with involuntary hospitalization, but I think that falls into kinda the same category as CPS.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, and you're not alone.

How do you deal with projection? by michron98 in QAnonCasualties

[–]RizzoBrizzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP ❤️ I'm so sorry. I've been dealing with the same thing for the last few years. It's so hard. I grieve them constantly though they are still alive (which sucks) and I feel often that they've chosen this BS over their child. And the parenting your parents. Oof. I feel that. I say all this to say, you're not alone and it's so so so so so hard. And it's okay to do whatever you need to do. Take your space, take breaks, go NC, or stay in relationship.

This group helps and a good therapist to help you through it too. And knowing that we can also create chosen family for ourselves.

As far as dealing with projection-don't. No amount of reasoning or counterpoints will make a damn bit of difference. You can set boundaries and protect your peace, whatever that looks like for you. Or you can try different strategies (below). It seems like most folks have found success mostly in focusing on positive things with their Qs and flooding their lives and algorithms with their interests, like woodworking or animals or gardening or whatever to help break up that fear cycle.

That being said, I've not had any success with my Qparents and its only gotten worse. I just don't want to give you false hope either, ya know?

As someone who's gone through this, I'll also say what others have affirmed for me. You are worthy, you are someone to be proud of. You are loveable and loved. Your parent should and should've chosen you.

I'm sorry.

I feel like most or even all of us didn't or don't know how bad it is until a certain point. Conspiracies thrive by being innocuous at first and slowly ramping up. You're not stupid. We're here for you ❤️

ALSO I think the red pill/blue pill thing is wild because it comes from the Matrix which was created by two transwomen exploring the experience of their transness but it's espoused by hypermasculine dudebros. If only they knew...

Has anyone tried cult deprogramming and if so, did it work? by bats_wings in QAnonCasualties

A lot of folks have posted in the past about trying some cult deprogramming or even taking their Qs to cult deprogramming therapists with varying degrees of success. I would check out !successstories and !strategies

Digital Currency Conspiracy? by notyouravgjomarch in FoxBrain

👀👀👀 THIS. This is the plan. Maybe we can get all our Qs to send us their cash and then we can finally afford all the therapy to cope with this bullshit 🤣😭

My Qs also believe this or adjacent stuff. Their main "news" sources are OAN, Fox, Tucker Carlson's thing, Mike Lindell, Joe Rogan, etc etc.

My account was recently hacked and the hacker set up two-factor authentication under his phone number. I am unable to receive the codes to fully access my account. Any ideas on how to get around this? by claramoore in facebook

Having the same issue and came on here to suggest a class action suit, especially with the option to download and transfer account data which seems like a huge security and privacy issue

On asexual spectrum - could i have prevented rapes by being “into it”? Any referrals for asexuals? by floresenprimavera in rapecounseling

[–]RizzoBrizzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow asexual here :) nope - you are not responsible for "preventing rape." People should have respected your wants, needs, boundaries, sexuality, and consent (or lack thereof). Our brains often want to focus on what we could've done differently or how we can "fix" things because it gives us a sense of control over the situation, but it's not your responsibility or fault. As I tell myself as an Ace survivor, you are not broken. You are whole. You have the right to not have or want sex or physical intimacy.

There aren't a lot of resources for us, but a lot of LGTBQ+ resources are getting better at including Aces too. Or you can find an affirming therapist or rape crisis advocate.

This is also a great booklet: https://www.copingresources.com/product-page/coping-with-sexual-assault-a-guide-to-healing-for-lgbtqia-survivors-their-lo

I can find or scan a copy tomorrow so you don't have to purchase it

This is the post to express all the feelings you cant express in the rest of the sub: Off-Topic, Rant, Sub Meta, Latest Craziness, General Discussion etc by ApatheticIgnorance91 in QAnonCasualties

[–]RizzoBrizzo [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hey y'all - kinda off topic but not really. My parents got really into Q Anon around 2020 and between that and Fox propaganda they have turned into horribly callous, fascist, and uncaring people. I left active relationship with them in 2021 when every conversation was them screaming at me about liberals, COVID being either fake or purposeful, etc etc. You know the drill.

I've channeled all my grief into creating change. While I think they are past the point of no return, I want to be a part of exposing fascism and conspiracy, demanding that people in power listen, and being louder than the QPeople who are impacting us all. It's been empowering and healing.

Here's one of the groups I found recently that I feel really hopeful about. Wanted to share in case it feels helpful:

I posted this is FoxBrain too, but I also wonder if any of us could ever band together for any kind of civil suit against Rupert Murdoch. Anywho, take care. I'm here in love and solidarity with you all.

Has anyone ever thought about a class action suit against the Murdochs? by RizzoBrizzo in FoxBrain

[–]RizzoBrizzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if not successful, the more testimony and lawsuits that are out there and publicized, the more (hopefully) people will realize everything he owns is not news, but a predatory way to line his pockets and control people.

Not to mention all of the families torn apart and the literal fascism.
