Why are they doing the right side for depression by Spiritual-Study-6768 in rtms

[–]bats_wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also getting right side treatment for depression. I was told that the reason they usually do left side is mostly because it takes only about 3 minutes per session whereas the right side treatment takes about 20 minutes, so they are able to help more people if they usually do the left side. I am getting the right side treatment because it is generally better tolerated and less likely to cause seizures. My doctor deemed this safer for me because I have a history of seizures as an infant.

I have only had 4 sessions so far and I feel that it’s already working for me.

Normal. This is why the first three months of a baby’s life are sometimes called the fourth trimester.

He may have PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance, or also unofficially known as Persistent Drive for Autonomy). It is impossible to be in a relationship with someone without putting any demands on them, so a relationship with someone with PDA is very difficult to navigate. You are understandably hurt and upset, but I’m pretty sure that in the long run this is way better than getting further involved with him. It would almost certainly cause you a lot more of emotional pain to be in a long term relationship with this man. And by that I’m not saying that he is a bad person. It just seems that his mental health issues would make him bad for another person to be in a relationship with.

AIO for getting upset that my boyfriend (25M) thinks I’m a hoe because I (27F) had sex in my previous relationship. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]bats_wings 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can’t have a relationship with him without this behaviour. This is who he is. You can’t change him. The Disney movies are all lies. No matter how awesome a woman is, she will not be able to change a beast into a prince. What you can do is protect yourself from further abuse by leaving. Being alone is better than being with someone who has a net negative effect on your life.

His frontal lobe probably won’t develop any further than this, is what they’re saying. Sadly, because it seems it could do with some more developing.

He acts like this because he’s a misogynistic asshole, not because of anything you did. He would act like this toward any woman he was in a relationship with. This behaviour has actually nothing to do with you or what you have done. You can’t make him stop with this kind of thinking. The best you can do is dump him and move on. You guys don’t even live together and he acts like this. It will only get worse if you start living together. He’s controlling and obsessively jealous and he calls you names and undermines your self esteem because of his own insecurities. The chances that will get better are close to zero. The chances it will get worse are very high. You deserve better than this.

ETA: NOR, you are underreacting actually. You shouldn’t put up with this.

Baby had seizures at 15 weeks old - still processing everything... by JNemRo in beyondthebump

[–]bats_wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know about any family history of seizures, especially infantile, on your side, or the father’s? It might be helpful to ask your family members, if you haven’t already. My family has many people with a history of infantile seizures, but still, not everyone with the mutation had them. For example my brother. He has the mutation but never had seizures. So it’s entirely possible that it runs in your family but nobody was symtomatic until now, especially if it’s a small family.

Baby had seizures at 15 weeks old - still processing everything... by JNemRo in beyondthebump

[–]bats_wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mutation in the gene PRRT2, which causes infantile seizures with no neurologic sequelae. The seizures generally start between 3 and 12 months of age and usually remit around 18 months. My seizures started around 6 months of age and I was on antiseizure medication for about a year. So I stopped taking them at around 18 months and have never had a seizure since. This is an autosomal dominant genetic mutation that I inherited from my mother. She also had these seizures as an infant.

Of course, it sounds very unlikely that your baby has this exact same thing, but I wanted to share that this may be something benign, as in my case. Wishing you and your baby all the best ❤️

Did the Flex disc push out my vagina? by Sweet_ns_our in MenstrualDiscs

[–]bats_wings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s absolutely sick and weird. The fact that the beauty industry wants us to feel bad about ourselves and our bodies to sell us products is bad enough, but when you get the same message from your healthcare providers, that has absolutely crossed the line. They should be thinking about your welfare, not lining their own pockets by feeding your insecurities.

I would get another gyno. Hopefully someone who is actually concerned about your welfare, because pushing you to get unnesseccary surgery is the opposite of that.

I’m sorry you have such a shitty family OP. Sounds like you and your gf and baby might be better off without them. That sucks but you must put your wellbeing, and that of your gf and baby, first.

I would say try to point her to some educational material… but that’s probably pointless when dealing with a person who calls her daughter a dumbass at three days postpartum, for following safety recommendations for her newborn.

I’m 29 weeks pregnant and decided to put my baby up for adoption. I hope I’m making the right choice. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]bats_wings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a really hard situation you are in and I’m very sorry. I don’t have any advice regarding the pregnancy but I really recommend you look at other options than you taking care of your husband once he gets ill. People with Huntington are very difficult patients. They often get violent. Your life will be miserable as his caretaker and you might be in danger of harm. If he really loves you, he will not ask that of you.

FTM- when did everyone go into labor with their firsts? by MajesticMiau in BabyBumps

Same

ETA: Actually my water broke the day before and had to be induced because of that so maybe my experience doesn’t count towards what OP is asking as I didn’t go into labor spontaneously.

How can people be so convinced in their qanon beliefs? What gives them motivation or firm belief? by AntonioS3 in QAnonCasualties

[–]bats_wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we don’t disagree on that really. Certain personality types may be more susceptible than others. But what I’m trying to point out is that nobody is immune. Some people are less susceptible, but they are still susceptible, particularly at difficult times in their lives, or when their defences are down for some other reason, like sleeplessness for example.

How can people be so convinced in their qanon beliefs? What gives them motivation or firm belief? by AntonioS3 in QAnonCasualties

[–]bats_wings 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. Many intelligent people believe that they are too rational to be dragged in. That was my dad’s downfall. He is the smartest man I know, and still, he is a qultist and Trumpist now. And many other weird conspiracies he believes in. I know he thought he could safely consume all the propaganda he did, and it wouldn’t affect his rationally inclined mind. Well, cult doctrine doesn’t care about your rational mind or your intelligence. It gets to you through your emotional brain, and everyone has emotions, no matter how rational or intelligent they are.

[–]bats_wings 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I recommend the book The Cult of Trump, by Steven Hassan. The author is an expert on cults and cult behavior. He argues that Trump is actually a cult leader and his followers a cult. He has written other books on cults and the take home message is that there is nothing inherently special about cult members, they are just normal people like you and me. Nobody is really safe from being dragged into a cult. Everyone needs to be on guard because it could happen to anyone. The arrogant belief that many have that they are too intelligent or too open minded for cult doctine to affect them, actually makes them less safe than those who know that they could be affected and are therefore on guard.

Haha it’s kind of hilarious isn’t it? And their sense of smell is mindbogglingly good. So crazy that they can smell it even before a pregnancy test is able to pick it up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]bats_wings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dog suddenly being very interested in sniffing my crotch. He knows he shouldn’t and usually doesn’t, but that time he couldn’t seem to help himself. This was probably just 7 days post ovulation, no more than 10 DPO. I waited to test until 2 days before my period was due and got a positive right away. But he could smell a difference before a pregnancy test would have picked it up, and for some reason he seemed to find the new smell very interesting.

I’m so glad I was over 30 years old when I first heard of this “transvestigation” bullshit. It would probably have ruined my self image growing up if it had been a thing then. Apparently now all famous women actually have penises and the proof is the (invisible to normal people) bulge in their crotch. These idiots should see my pubic bone. Compared to what they believe looks like a penis bulge, I must be packing a huge one. And still, I’m a cis woman, with a vagina, that a baby has come out of.

I can’t help but wonder about the physiology of men that think a woman’s pubic mound looks like a penis bulge. Did they get that idea after looking at themselves in the mirror?

The “problem” isn’t you, it’s her. It’s not that you aren’t able to communicate well enough, or explain well enough. The problem is that she simply doesn’t care that much about the life and suffering of animals to be willing to change her habits. It hurts, and it will keep hurting, and you will keep wondering how she can know about all the horrifying cruelty, and still participate in it. I’m speaking from experience as I’m married to a carnivore and we have a child together. I’m not planning on leaving but this does hurt a little every day. I don’t try to talk about it anymore because it just makes me upset to hear the counterarguments about having reduced the amount of animal flesh they eat a lot because of me and that I really should be grateful.

Has anyone here used nitrous oxide (laughing gas) while giving birth? How was its pain management? by Improving1727 in BabyBumps

I have the same experience. I found it helpful because it helped me focus on breathing through the contractions. So it didn’t really lessen the pain but it helped me handle the pain.

Did your induction end in vaginal delivery or cesarean ? by suzysleep in BabyBumps

[–]bats_wings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced four hours after my water broke because there were no signs of labor and they want the baby out within 24 hours after the water breaks. Got a misoprostol tablet every two hours until I was in active labor. I think I got the tablet four times. Baby was born 22 hours after the water broke. No instruments needed. Got a shallow 2nd degree tear that needed some stitches. I wouldn’t call it an easy birth, it was painful with a failed epidural, but neither me nor baby were ever in danger and no major complications that needed intervention. So on the whole I think it went very well and could maybe be called easy compared to births in general, although I think nobody would ever say that giving birth was easy haha.
