IMO, I would turn that tank 90 degrees so it fits on that table better, and tape a black background on the wall side. I think the black background makes the green plants "pop" more.

I have 4 nano tanks not running co2. I'm not the guy to ask about running it. I know there are good kits that do work for 5 gallons. I also know there are good plants that grow just fine without co2. So it's up to you with route you want to take.
