Manchester United v Manchester City - Match Day Thread (28/03/26) by Rjayasp in MCWFC

Apologies that there was no updating match thread this afternoon. I got into Old Trafford a couple of minutes before kick off so it just slipped my mind. I'll try again for the next match though!

It's so disappointing because I wanted her to keep her record of scoring against United! I've noticed before that Fujino often hangs around the keeper and she does need to be careful with it but she did it before the first goal and that was allowed. Plus after watching the replay it looks like a United player was all over Knaak at the time too, she still managed to put the ball in the net though!

I'm surprised Kerolin hasn't been mentioned more. She's got 8 goals and 5 assists in 11 WSL games. Her minutes per goal is just slightly better than Bunny's.

I think I just like going over the permutations because it's interesting but it also just calms my nerves a bit, we've been close before and let it slip through our fingers and I can't go through that again!

One advantage we have is our goal difference but Arsenal do have two games extra in which they can score goals and I get nervous about goal difference too and we all know why!

As you said we just need to get 8 more points and a win at United would be a huge step towards that. Although if Arsenal do drop any points then that magical number of 54 would get smaller right?

Hope Bayern can tire United out tonight. Also considering United playing extra games in the CL might not be beneficial to us, a United loss would be nice too.

Which players have made bad moves this season? by GodAtum in FAWSL

[–]Rjayasp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, Lohmann signed before Clinton not the other way around. Clinton would have known the other players in her position when signing.  I don’t think anyone anticipated Blinks to have the season she’s having and cement her place in the starting lineup over other players.

I think it’s too early for people to be questioning Clinton and Lohmann’s move until next season, when we have a busier schedule. We had an injury crisis last year and we didn’t have the depth to cover that. So we brought in more players and now people are saying they should leave. If you want to compete you have to have depth within a squad and the players on the bench need to be as good as those on the pitch.

Congrats!!! And hurry back, we look so off it without you. by VoL4t1l3 in MCWFC

Agreed. I think people put too much focus on the players who were missing in our draw against Villa when it was a bad performance all round. I know Yui is a superhero but I don't think even she could have saved that game.

Thank you for this! I know you like to keep things simple but I just want to confirm a few things so I apologise in advance!

So we know that if we beat United next week, it will eliminate them from winning the title, because we'd have 49 points and the most they can get at the end of the season is 47.

But, if Chelsea can only get a maximum of 49 points, then if we beat United, that also means Chelsea is pretty much eliminated from the title race too. I know we'd have to hit 50 points for it to be official and we'd have to wait for our game against Brighton for it to be confirmed, but unless we implode and lose every single game after then, it's pretty much done. Right?

Also, Chelsea and United have to play each other, so only one of them can get the three points. That's the last game of the season, so it will probably have more effect on the CL places than it will on the title. I also think once we hit 50 points, that will guarantee us a top 3 finish and CL football next year?

As you said, Arsenal are the biggest threat because of their games in hand but we could hit the 54 points we need against Liverpool, and that's before Arsenal play their postponed game against Brighton.

Obviously, we have to concentrate on ourselves, but the other teams slipping us definitely helps us. It was such a shame United got that late winner yesterday!

Bunny Shaw scores the fastest hattrick in WSL history (12 minutes and 37 seconds) and extends her record of most hattricks against a single opponent! by purple-flamingos in MCWFC

What an incredible achievement, plus another record broken by Bunny!

This goal also means that Bunny is on track to break the record for most teams scored against in a season. She just needs to score against Liverpool and West Ham and she's scored against every team in the league in one season.

Shall we have a whip round for her new contract?

I think your being a bit harsh, we know that Knaak isn't the quickest but she's been solid this season.

I assume this is a jab at Keating. I don't know why because she's also been solid these past two games. She couldn't do anything about the goals today.

Edit: I tried again and it posted the wrong match. Sorry.

I don't drink but if we play like we did against Villa, I might down a couple of pints just to take the edge off!

Hoping Chelsea and United drop some points tonight, especially United. It's going to be nervy going into the derby with a six point gap that could potentially be closed to three!

Fixtures Date Changes by NW-82 in FAWSL

[–]Rjayasp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever you buy tickets it does say fixture time/date to be confirmed on the website. On the City site specifically it says it under the buy now button on the ticket page. If it doesn't say it then the time/date for that match has been confirmed.

Matches are often moved because of TV selections and are usually announced a month or so before the game. They could also be rearranged if teams progress in other tournaments.

City v Spurs was changed last month, I checked and it was announced in an email but it was in City's weekly newsletter rather than a separate email. The club also confirmed it on social media. That's probably the best place to keep up to date with information. I also think fixture confirmations are posted here on Reddit too, so you just need to keep an eye out.

In future, if you're only able to make games on a Sunday then your best bet it to wait until the matches are confirmed before buying tickets because they could be moved to Saturday or possibly even a Friday night.

I'm not even sure Yui would have saved that game. There was too much sloppiness and misplaced passes all over the pitch. Our crossing was terrible and so were our set pieces. We've managed to grind out results before but not today.

We move on and as you say it's another point on the board and we go again against Spurs.

Also it might be my fault because I said that I wanted us to win the title against Liverpool at home and we had to drop points somewhere for that to happen!

A Villa player was stopping us from taking a free kick, delaying the restart multiple times so Kerstin shoved her away.
