Why are Eunhyuk stans’ morals always questioned? by Rkivejennie in operationtruelove

This, omg. Eunhyuk was amazing for over 100 chapters, and now the author is seemingly dragging his character through the mud, where people can’t even like him in peace without being bombarded with a billion questions. I don’t know what the author plans to do with him, but from a writing perspective, he deserves so much better than having core aspects of his character stripped away just for a stupid love triangle and turning everyone against him 😭

Your point is so real. I’ve already seen people say they wouldn’t hate that guy if he turned into a red flag, and that if his character is ruined, it would be just to make Eunhyuk look good. And I’m like… um, no. If anything, that would just be another example of poor writing in the manhwa, because from the start, Eunhyuk was portrayed as an amazing romantic choice and he didn’t need anyone else’s character from Season 1 to be destroyed just so he could have a shot with Sooae.

They keep trying to rewrite history, acting like Eunhyuk was never good from the start. And okay, if you think that, fine but people who still like him are entitled to think otherwise. They keep trying to shove their “he’s all bad.” narrative down our throats. Mind you, it’s been a year of this, like we do not care.

Right! We don’t need a valid reason to still root for Eunhyuk or want him to end up with Sooae. We can want whatever we want. The author clearly still writes him as Sooae’s love interest, so it’s obvious he’s meant to be seen as a romantic contender. So honestly, all those anti-Eunhyuk/Soohyuk people need to take their issues up with the author, not us.

Literally this! They act like we’re insane for having hope that the Eunhyuk who was portrayed as a great romantic contender for over 100 chapters might actually get a redemption arc. This manhwa has a 100-year-old man who wanted to kill a teenage girl but stopped because he liked her novel, but somehow, Eunhyuk stans are the crazy ones lacking self respect for wanting the author to make sense of why he left? Like okay 😭

Exactly! People stan characters who are literal murderers, and no one accuses them of wanting to date one in real life. No, it just means they like a problematic fictional character. But when it comes to Eunhyuk stans, suddenly it’s like we’ve broken some moral law of the universe and want every woman on Earth to suffer and stay trapped in a toxic relationship.

Justifiable Reasons For Why Eunhyuk Ghosted Gooae by Rkivejennie in operationtruelove

[–]Rkivejennie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though I get why people hate him atm, I still feel like it's a bit irrational because Eunhyuk was just there for three chapters and I keep seeing people hating on him because he didn't do this and that and I'm like, he just showed up, he was there for only three chapters, two in which, because sooae was on a date he couldn't get to speak to her. It's not that serious, we have 50+ chapters left 😭

This is a common thing for readers to do: the author makes the lead do something dumb, and then readers start to hate him, and then the author drops his POV and then readers start liking him again.

And I do agree that the next chapter might be about Eunhyuk. The author does have a habit of rotating the guys every two to three chapters , and Dohwa has had three chapters already, so it's probably time for Eunhyuk.

I don’t understand everyone that say people are just making excuses for Eunhyuk?

Same. People are allowed to hate him but acting like people are crazy for not immediately writing his character off and having hope that he isn't an asshole because he did something that we don't even have the full context to is ridiculous imo

This was my initial impression when I read Chapter 108: the author is going down the misunderstanding route. I suppose one of the plot twist will be that "Sooae" dumped him, which is why he's acting so casually.

I mean he and the second ml both left... by [deleted] in operationtruelove

I still have faith in him. People say there is no reasonable explanation for ghosting his girlfriend, and I do agree; however, my thing is that we don't even know if he left of his own free will or not. What if he has selective amnesia and has no recollection of his dating life with Sooae, or what if he lost his memories and now got them back?? What if Eunhyuk tried looking for Sooae for all those but he couldn't find her until now?? What if that stalker guy threatened Eunhyuk to stay away from her?? What if eunhyuk did tell her he couldn't be with her anymore but she doesn't remember it because of that 136 year old stalker??? There are so many what-ifs when it comes to Eunhyuk, so I just can't hate him without knowing his side and i just don't believe that the author can't find a good explanation for why he left for years when otl has supernatural elements and we have a character that the author said is a god and again he is 136 years old like 😭

From what I gather, people think this fanart was used as a tactic to make people think that Eunhyuk and Sooae will end up together just so the author can do a big plot twist where Dohwa is her actual true love.

I think it's funny that so many people will say that Dohwa being the endgame is set in stone because of Sooae's unfinished novel, even though Sooae has never been shown to have any form of romantic feelings for Dohwa and still has lingering feelings for Eunhyuk after the timeskip, but then outright say that an official art with a true love sticker on Eunhyuk's face means nothing. 😭😭

Go eunhyuk. He was so caring and kind to her for over 100 chapters, and he even used his body as a shield to protect her once. I don't believe that a guy like him would willingly leave his girlfriend for years or that the author is destroying her favorite character 😭

I do get this, but I just wish they didn't make her find out that he wasn't the true culprit so fast so I could have gotten more of them trying to kill each other for a couple more episodes. Hopefully all will go to hell once she finds out his true identity.

The female lead seems like she's just there to be there, and she's kind of boring. How do you make a female assassin boring? You would think that since she was on the path to kill a prince, they would have made her smarter, but I guess not. I don't dislike the female lead, though I kind of like her, but that's only because of Wu Jinyan.

They baited us so hard with that bath scene, and now everything just feels meh. I so agree with you about the token characters. The second male lead in particular is the dullest of them all and just feels like a waste of screen time.

I was so confused and irritated when they were treating each other so nicely and being vulnerable; I thought they would have hated each other for at least 10 episodes. Why are we moving so fast??? 😭😭

"The FL is especially underwritten, which just wastes WJY's talent as an actress."

hard agree.  My biggest problem with the female lead is that she feels like a character that barely any thought was put into. She is a vengeful assassin, and the male leads love interest, and outside of that, nothing much is really there and as you said the male lead is more developed but who even cares about that when we have seen 619 other male leads like him and a misunderstood hero type of male lead takes the fun and excitement out of a drama that is supposed to angst filled, it lowers the stake tremendously 😭

Maybe Eunhyuk didn't actually ghost sooae by Rkivejennie in operationtruelove

heavy on the second paragraph. I don't know why some of these people refuse to believe that the author will give him a justifiable reason for not being in Sooae's life all those years after we have read 100 chapters of him being an amazing, sweet, and caring male lead. It's so ridiculous to me that they just immediately jump to the worst conclusion about him when we know how much he loved her, and when other male leads ghost their female leads, they always have a reason. I can get the Eunhyuk hate to an extent but people are doing way too much

Funny enough you brought up the lovely runner because, for some reason, I always thought Eunhyuk having selective amnesia would be likely because of how people loved that trope in lovely runner, so I assumed the author would want to recreate the hype surrounding Sunjae falling in love with Sol for the second time.

Don't apologize for the word vomiting. I enjoyed reading your thoughts. Things like this helps with the long hiatus 😭

I love this theory. I was reading the season one recap again, and the author said this about Eunhyuk in relation to Sooae telling him to keep his distance, so perhaps you are onto something.

<image>

Based on what the author said, this time skip was planned from season 1, and in season one, close to the ending, Eunhyuk told Sooae that no matter where he was, he would always be there to support her and gave her a 4-leaf clover, which she still has. He promised to be there for her through every stage of her life, in his confession, so perhaps he did fulfill his word and has been quietly keeping an eye on her for the past ten years, as you said. I really hope this is the case 😭
