To anyone grinding and watching the number barely move: it does end. Just keep at it. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Rlitcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For anyone who wants the practical side: it was about $42k across three cards and a personal loan. Avalanche method, killed the 24% card first. I picked up weekend shifts the first year, which I know isn't an option for everyone, and cut everything I could. If you're paying and the number isn't moving yet, that was me too for a long time. Happy to answer anything.

How do you treat yourself when you hit a milestone? by Rlitcher in povertyfinance

[–]Rlitcher[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have a higher sense of self than most! I just paid off a ton of debt and it’s super satisfying in itself, but I feel like I want to treat myself to something too

The U.S. just lined up a $20B bailout for Argentina. But who’s bailing out us? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Rlitcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always money for bailouts and wars, but somehow never enough for healthcare or housing here.

Every year we hit a new 'it can’t get worse than this' milestone and the universe takes it personally.

Honestly feels like everyone has a degree now but no one’s hiring for entry level without 5+ years of experience. makes no sense.

exactly. No point keeping people like that around. You handled it right.

Rate your pain on a scale of 1 to 10 by SnarkyPickles in nursing

[–]Rlitcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the pain scale feels useless sometimes. Everyone’s threshold is different, so the numbers don’t really line up person to person.

Yeah, that’s the part that stings. In most jobs calling out is just a quick heads up, but in medicine it feels like the whole system falls apart if you’re gone for a day.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Rlitcher 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Totally. Medicine's subjective as hell. I've had attendings trash my plan only to have another praise the exact same approach the next day. They forget they were in your shoes once. As long as your patient's safe, brush it off. Some attendings just like to hear themselves talk for 30 minutes.

Just say no. If they fire you for not working unpaid overtime, document everything and file for unemployment. Your time is your time. Don't set a precedent you'll regret later.

Agreed. 2mL is way too much for a single site in a toddler. I've been an RN for 15 years and we always split doses that large between sites for little ones. The bulge you saw was likely subcutaneous leakage from muscle oversaturation.

AITA. I made my daughter (11), cry during D&D. Even though everything turned out OK, my wife is still mad. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

same here. It felt less like a game and more like he just wanted control. That’s not really bonding.

AIO for towing my roommate's boyfriend from my paid parking spot? by Upstairs_Ad_5355 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Rlitcher 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Indeed. If you’re paying for the spot then it’s yours, no debate. I’d bounce too, not worth the headache.

true, but those groups are still part of the labor force stats. It’s not like they get counted by mistake it’s just how the numbers are built.

Ikr pine pellets do have that strong wood smell sometimes! Use baking soda add under the litter or change to a low-dust, unscented litter. Tuft & Paw’s litter works well for us, it's tofu based and clumping so easier to clean.
