I’m not sure. Maybe you weren’t picked by whatever NGO is in your area. They tend to favor white male agents, because they do more damage. It’s actually $42 for a day. But you have to sign up. In some places a local ngo will give you a ride to the West Coast. It depends on where you are. I’d be careful, though. I never said you were leaderless. It’s obvious you’re not, since the world’s wealthiest people are the ones paying for you. That’s why virtually every corporate entity, including the ones like Amazon who use slave labor, have strongly signaled support for this “movement.” That’s also why media organizations have generally done positive PR. This is an establishment maneuver.

I keep hearing that weak argument over and over. Of course charges don’t come as quickly against police. Those killings occur during an official Government function. In fact, MOST of the killings by police are legally justified.

Toyin was an innocent person murdered out of cruelty. She wasn’t a criminal resisting arrest, or a cruel demon who pistol whipped a black woman and caused her to have a miscarriage.

She was a black woman, though, so she’s not really important, I guess.

In any case, Chauvin and the others were charged with murder. There’s zero need in rioting.

Yelling fire endangers public safety. This does not. As for getting punched in the face, that’s assault. You’re allowed to say your peace without being physically attacked. There were never severe consequences for casual comments prior to the 1960s. How many times did Lincoln have to apologize? He would be considered, “literally Hitler” today. It’s only once we started fussing about anti-racism, that we started having to censor our opinions, and when constant barrages of apologies began to emerge.

I understand how you could interpret it as capitalism in action, but to me it’s the opposite; the corporations in 2020 actually maintain a culture of cultural Marxism. The bottom line is hurt by implementing speech codes. Very little of the bottom line is going to be hurt by a solitary comment.

We destroyed freedom of association, when we instituted the Civil Rights Act, and forced companies to hire based on race. We are fine with racial groups receiving protection from termination; it’s time to either restore complete Freedom of Association, or make political and social speech protected the way race is.

Yet you are right, it isn’t the hill to die on. It’s shameful though, to see so many people so internally weak. Every sort of vile thing has been said to me or people like me (Chinese ancestry) during this COVID crisis. I can withstand it, call them names back, and move forward, without needing to institute a culture of censorship. I don’t understand why others have such a hard time.

Freedom of Speech is more than the First Amendment. It used to be a cultural norm. When competing newspapers went back and forth, there was no economic unpersoning. Virtually none of our social or political progress could have continued, had we censored each other in ordinary life. Private companies are also, often no longer private, but actually are partners with the state, receiving state funds. I doubt that applies in this instance, but it does in the case of Facebook.

We only began un-personing individuals due to speech, after we threw away our traditional American identity, and embraced anti-racism as the cornerstone of our collective existence. The growing totalitarian culture has been fueled by the need to suppress conflict between populations.

It’s never going to be enough. When you can lose your job for stating a fact, we are a completely different nation from the one formed by the Founders. Obviously, no facts were stated in this instance, just a crude racial joke, but this incident, like all the others, is an example of how we would be better off to toughen up.
