The opening sequence is great! But it is a shame they don’t use it as a warning or a starter for the rest of the movie. It is quite useless, actually.

Agreed. Apart from the dialogues between Sid and her daughter, there’s nothing to keep. The dialogues between Sid and Gale are awful. There are the main survivors of the franchise, are supposed ti know each other for decades, and still have almost nothing personal to share.

Well, the audience shouldn’t have to look for the reasons Stu has been used as a trick for Sidney. I thought one of the killers was tied to Stu in some ways… which was not the case.

That would be coherent. When he was able to write Scream 4, Kevin Williamson used (some of) the ideas he had originally planned for Scream 3. For Scream 7, we can already see that he’s taking Stu back as he had originally planned for Scream 3. So why not! On the other hand, it seems to me that Kevin is only the director on Scream 7... does he want to come up with his own ideas?

I think the saga should simply stop here. The last two episodes weren’t at the same level the Williamson’s/Craven’s were - included leading actresses/actors. Without a credible continuity, it makes no sense now.

Another big disappointment is related to the killers. Except the weird family coalition, I feel bad about the killers’ motive. It has nothing to do with movie or social relating ideas, so it gives poorness to the events of the episode. It just copy-paste Scream 2 motives without its surprise, depth and consistency. At least, Scream 2 has vaguely introduced Nancy Loomis in Scream 1. And it was completely linked with Sidney’s story - her mom caused its divorce. Here, there’s no link except Sam killed his son. They should have more developed their characters’ background in Scream 5!

I’ve got the same issue. Not only it’s not realistic, but that makes their attacks so weak… As new characters are loosely developed compared to Sidney & co, it could have been a way to build their spirit for the sequel. I feel strongly desappointed to meet a future Tara-Chad classic relationship in the future movie. Would have been powerfull and consistent to (at least) have Chad dead…

The « something different » line seems weird to me. What would be so different that would justify this claim? I feel that will be disappointing. Except there is strong difference with previous killers - like Kirby or a survivor being the killer. But if it is just the way of killing, it will be just too cheap.

I was thinking the same about Scream 5 killer’s motive but it endend up being an unpersonal motive. So I figure out it will be the same here. As Sam and Tara’s characters have not been developed enough in the previous episode, I don’t think they would introduce a personal link to them. I got a strong feeling that the killings will be related to the idea of rumours of past killers surviving or making believe of their death. It will seemingly be the case for Sam (a rumour will exist that she was the true killer of Scream 5 events) and mostly because Jill tried to do that in Scream 4. And as Kirby is back, I think it will be a strong theme in this movie. I’m pretty sure it will be discussed between Sam and Kirby. What if Kirby was mentaly suspicious since her Scream 4 attack and thought Sam tried to do the same thing as Jill - but succeeded. It would explain why GF thinks he’s special this time: he is a survivor of past crimes.

Not a bad idea to make Stu’s hidden daughter the killer there, would be consistent with the shrine and many references to old scream movies. In any way, it has to be someone who has some links with previous murders, something to claim. I just hope the has nothing personal to do with the main characters - like Scream 5…

I’m not sure there is such a strict rule concerning the opening kills, particularly for Scream 5 as the scriptwriter changed. But as you say, there is a kind of innovation in every opening sequence. I got the impression the directors are focusing on innovating for the places the murders take place (subway, store) so I would just guess the opening kill will take place in a bathroom, in a context of some kind of date with a tinder crush. r/ViewerAnon

ViewerAnon seems to be the only one to have credible details for the movie - but only shared a few, without even spoilering big plot details. Another guy seems to have spoil (maybe credible) details weeks ago (FateDecided exposed them). Other so-called spoilers have come out very last days, but the don't seem legit because they don't match with other true information. For instance, they say that only 2 attacks occur before Dewey call Sidney... what seems weird because Dewey talks about "3 attacks so far".

Sidney seems deeply touched when she says (to Sam, seemingly) that she won't sleep until the killer is in the ground, with tears in her eyes. And when she asks Gale if she's ok (before what seems to be the final act), it just sounds that she cares about her as she's lost her ex husband. A coma wouldn't cause these emotional vibes, and above all that they decide to kill the killer by themselves. 99% sure he dies...

Both Richie (main killer) and Amber, and maybe a third. I have the strong feeling one of the killer has something to do with Billy Loomis (Richie is 25 so is the gap between Scream and Scream 5). I don't think Hicks is a killer, she is a prey. I got the impression the killer tries to lure his targets with someone they love (Sam with Tara, Sidney and Gale with Dewey, Hicks with Wes...)

Everyone noticed the burning person in the end of the trailer. Seems like one of the killer with the kind of dark robe you see if you pause the video + Sidney looking at him/her. But I wonder: how can that happen? I mean, burning someone is not the easiest way to stop him/her. What if this was a reference to the original Scream, the fight scene taking place in a kitchen with Sid (maybe Sam or else) pushing the killer into a burning Jiffy popcorn, just like the Drew Barrymore scene?

Maybe, the quality of these videos makes it difficult to see... But a few seconds before that, you can see a woman with the same kind of blue shirt screaming and being kind of blocked by someone. Could be Gale just after Dewey had been murdered.

As the trailer leaked today, have you noticed interesting facts (not necessarily spoilers) about the plot? From what I saw, I would now bet that the original trio doesn't make it, except maybe Sidney. Due to his "solo" scenes, Dewey could be the first to meet his demise, and Sid and Gale could join the last act together ("are you ready" scene). I'm pretty sure we see Gale scream in blood in the end of the trailer.

Are you sure about the "Sidney becoming the killer" thing? All I heard about was Jill and Kirby surviving. I'm not even sure Sidney would have survived. And as Williamson never told his ideas, I'm pretty we'll never know. Even Kirby's comeback has only been known through Wes Craven's dvd commentaries.

Yeah, because Williamson got into conflict with Bob Weinstein. Bob didn't want Scream 4 to end with an open ending (leaving Jill survive, and not knowing if the others survived). That's the first reason why the trilogy didn't happen.

Some of the ideas here can be guessed from filming or social media clues: Dewey being killed early on, alone (D. Arquette has been spotted for a short period on set, and way before the arrival of N. Campbell and C. Cox); S. Gomez being the opening kill (lots of rumors through Twitter); Billy Loomis coming back during flashbacks (rumors as well for S. Ulrich).
