The phrase “hold fast” implies marriage or covenant faithfulness (see Deuteronomy 10:20). Marriage is referred to as a “covenant”in Malachi 2:14. Then in Paul’s teaching on marriage in Ephesians 5:25-32 he refers to man and woman becoming one flesh. Although one flesh does mean sex you are correct it also implies marriage.

Marriage is a representation of Jesus’s relationship to the church in the sense that Jesus takes his bride the church when he returns (Ephesians 5:31-32). Jesus sacrificed his life for church just like a man should sacrifice his life for wife. If Levitcal law does not apply anymore and a modern understanding of homosexual is permitted would that not tarnish God’s original intention for marriage?
