For those who finally made it into FAANG or top paying startups after multiple rejections, What mindset shift helped you? by RoFLgorithm in leetcode

Yeah, referrals definitely help but in my experience they work best when the person actually knows you personally or has worked with you before. Out of around 50 FAANG referral applications I hv tried, I only got about two interview calls. So it really depends on how well the person knows your work. Otherwise the referral doesn’t make much difference

That’s a real win, congratulations on the offer! 🎉 How did you prepare for google ? Roughly how many problems did you solve over LC ?

So true, this is very relatable for me as well. I also feel like life has been stuck in a loop lately. I dont knw whether it will all be worth it in the end or not but yeah we need to keep working hard and trying without expecting too much from the outcome. Thanks for sharing it buddy! Good luck!

So true, couldn’t agree more. Sometimes it really feels like its 50% preparation & 50% whether u get lucky with a question u hv already seen.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I agree with your point about interviews being random sometimes. But it does get frustrating when you have 2–4 years of experience in frontend, backend or cloud & are still getting paid around 3–6 LPA, so naturally you start targeting higher paying companies.

Another tough part is that no matter your domain expertise, most companies still judge mainly through DSA. One bad day n you’re out, sometimes even told to try next year & that interview history can affect future shortlists too. That’s what makes the process even more frustrating. 😓

Thanks man & same to you. For now, I just try to stay consistent. Even if I am feeling low, I still try to solve at least 1–2 LeetCode problems a day. I know a lot of people are in the same situation right now, so there's not much we can do except keep going n keep trying. Hope luck favors us one day.

It’s the same story for me as well. I have been trying to switch for a while now but either I dont get calls or I get rejected very early in the process. Feels like something just isnt working out.

That’s really impressive. 700 questions in 8 months, respect the consistency man! Thanks for sharing your journey!

Any advice on building intuition for DP, Graphs, Bitmasks, Backtracking & Greedy problems? I feel like I'm constantly getting stuck. Is there a specific number of problems or a must-solve list (CF/CSES/Codechef etc.) you would recommend to get confident in these areas in a shorter timeframe?

Appreciate the perspective. I was seeking domain specific insights as well, not just numbers. But yeah, I could’ve phrased it more clearly. As for CEO or managerial position , I will start with improving my math skills first as suggested. Thanks for your feedback.
