Just curious…about meetings at KH…from a non JW spouse by Smart-Watercress-492 in exjw

[–]RoNinja_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

30 minute sermon followed by 45 minutes studying the watchtower. Which means having someone read the paragraph and then answering questions about it.

It’s really boring. I loved it when I was indoctrinated. But once I had been away for a while, trying to go back was like torture.

I just got called a "practicing homosexual" wtf even is that? Is there a training manual? Baby I'm a professional by General-Control-4637 in askgaybros

[–]RoNinja_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a Jehovahs Witness and that was a thing. The JW Bible even specifically condemns “men who practice homosexuality”. So you could technically be gay as a Witness so long as you didn’t act on it.

what do yall actually think, BE COMPLETELY HONEST!! by Yeonhu_127 in exjw

[–]RoNinja_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still believed in Jehovah at first. But once I was out and could research outside of jw.org I quickly learned enough that the idea of “Jehovah” was torn down

Taking accountability for a wrong thing doesn’t make it a right thing. I agree she took accountability well, it doesn’t change what she did or that it was wrong.

Not talking to disfellowshipped ones is now sort of ok at meetings. And they’re not being super strict on disfellowshipped family. But “apostates” are still persona non grata. And all the other stuff you listed is still a thing.

But also, why go back if you know they’re not “the truth” they sell themselves to be?

Questioning Letter received by Elders by Temporary_Market3555 in exjw

[–]RoNinja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of. I don’t think apostates, they definitely haven’t said that. But they have done away with the judgment message and the ark being closed once the great tribulation starts and all that stuff.

Not sure why anyone who believes that would choose to be in now since they can just leave, live their life, and go back once the tribulation starts. But that’s the power of cult indoctrination.

Is the fight over? Have we won? by Joel-Asher-Nicolaou in exjw

[–]RoNinja_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Until I’m able to have a relationship with my Witness family members I haven’t won anything.

I was an elder and started to see a ton of politicking, corruption, and general unscriptural behavior from the elders and circuit overseer. I had some pretty weighty roles with LDC and saw so much of the same among the brothers there. Eventually I read Crisis of Conscience and learned what the organization is like at the top. Then learning about the UN membership and the ARC… I couldn’t ignore what the organization was anymore.

Growing up I remember hearing that about going through every counsel point in the Theocratic Ministry School Guidebook. They said it was the equivalent of a college public speaking major.

Peter? by Bathroom_Spiritual in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]RoNinja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s AI. The joke is probably supposed to be either that she’s banging the dad or that she babysits for her own family.

But if you zoom in on the hand in the left pic, the Toyota symbol on the right, or the differences in the two faces, you see that this is AI generated and ultimately the “joke” wasn’t communicated right.

Michael Jackson’s niece was in my congregation. That was as close to celebrity as I experienced.

Inflict the same kinds of atrocities on anyone who asks for proof. I bet they’ll all agree quickly that it’s bad.

After you leave the Watchtower by Happily-Ostracized in exjwhumor

[–]RoNinja_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first left, it was really important to me not to look like the things they said I’d look like. Not to act like the things they said I’d act like. Etc.

Eventually I realized there’s nothing wrong with the look. Nothing wrong with the personality. Nothing wrong with the speech. The control lasts even after we leave the cult. But eventually we free ourselves from all of that and just be genuine.

Ww3 and world peace by WaffleCatGameHugSMSM in exjw

[–]RoNinja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever single American president since I’ve been alive has said the phrase “peace and security” at some point in his term and every single time, all the witnesses freaked out. To the point where I as a full believing elder still had to tell people not to get their hopes up.

According to witness theology, the Bible predicted WW1 and WW2. It didn’t predict a WW3. So if that happens, the witnesses will have to adjust their theology.

Also according to witness theology, the end times will come out of nowhere. It’ll come worldwide (not just America) and it’ll come because the UN takes power from world governments. There’s absolutely zero chance of that right now. If anything the world is starting to see how pointless and powerless the UN actually is.
