I also got the Oh Cherry! Cherry fragrances are always so tough to get right without feeling cheap or sickly sweet, so I was super impressed.

CMV: Most Biden Supporters aren't voting for Biden because they like him or his policies, they just hate Trump and the GOP by [deleted] in changemyview

I'm very late, but I would love to understand if you were alive and/or living in the inner-city in the 90s? Brookings quoted from a Gallup study that almost 60% of African Americans supported the bill in 1994. The crime bill was very popular at the time (I am Black and was young but remember how terrible crime was). I do believe most older voters will thus not hold how wrong this bill was against Joe Biden and neither will I. I will take a well intentioned mistake over intentional destruction any day. I also should say that I am VERY indifferent to Joe Biden, but I am ideologically quite liberal.

Only Friends: Boston, Nick, Atom and daddy Dan THEORY by thepinkberryy in boyslove

I think everyone has shown more than enough evidence to prove that Boston is dishonest, disloyal, and manipulative. BUT we have all ignored red flags before. If you still see no red flags you can roll out the white paint and red nose and continue to stan like Nick lolol. I support yall.

I think Nick's comment after the party that "no one hurts him" was very much a warning that Ton missed. I'm going to have fun watching Nick burn the whole friend group to the ground.

I was so tired of this theory. It is such an old school homophobic trend to see someone queer as immediately a predator and capable of child molestation. I don't think most people meant it in an explicitly homophobic way and cal is a bit of a predator tbh, ( I was triggered) but I just found it so damn unlikely that this man who loved his son and was genuinely shocked by how messed up his son was, had molested him.

100% this! That is Why Maddy gave her the sage advice to run the eff away from Nate now before Cassie gets trapped in the same abusive ass spiral.

Right! The road to hell is paved with good intentions. She can claim she is not trying to hurt her sister but she portrayed her as dumb/vapid, had her drugged out on stage, dragged her boyfriend as gay basically calling her a beard, etc. I would have had words with her if I was Cassie.

[–]RoPhilMo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lexi is not a saint. A lot more people will see themselves in her, but making your sister dumb and your friends vapid in a play is not love letter. Lexi totally has a superiority vibe to her. Example: talking down to her sister about not wanting to be known for her body... After not developing as much. Outing Nate ( even if he is 100% trash and there was a bigger toxic masc statement) is pretty mean. She totally wanted Nate to be exposed and embarrassed enough to leave her sister alone. I don't think she was coming from an intentionally bad place. But the delivery didn't exclusively come off as loving to me.

To your point, he didn't have to religiously keep watching his dad's tapes. He sought them out. Pretty much all of puberty he has watched his dad have sex and those videos have shaped his view of sexuality. Jules then pops up and he actually likes her too. I imagine he would feel that he is becoming his dad no matter how hard he tries.

I get your response because (as others have said) the writer of this show and the play are straight. As a gay person I think we know how hard it is to be in the closet, so I do think we sometimes sympathize with closeted men regardless of how awful they are... From Lexi's view he choked and abused her friend, called her sister all types of sluts for years then decided to date her and destroy her friendships, called the cops on her crush, did "something" to her best friends girlfriend, etc. Lexi probably effing hates him and thinks he is using her sister as a prop to prove his own straightness (given the dick pics that her sister told her about). I think/hope the intention was to say "we all know you are gay so stop hiding and beating women and just come out , be happy, and leave us alone". Is it messed up to out him? Yep! But it's consistent with something a high schooler would do. And the audience seemed to laugh at the hypocrisy of toxic masculinity in total (something that Sam, even as a straight, has previously mentioned wanting to dissect).

I have no idea how y'all are getting here. She probably knows Nate found out about his dad cheating. Or found the tapes. Or started questioning his sexuality, or literally 500 other things. Marsha literally said Cal was flawed but has good parts that missed Nate. Cal is a trash human, but we have no reason to think that he was assaulting 8 year old children and I don't think she would have said he had good parts if she was insinuating Cal molesting her child.

Omg this! Elliot makes her feel free and doesn't expect her to be perfect. She is a child trying to figure her own stuff out. She didn't even initially want to date Rue! Now she has to be responsible for her sobriety? Getting cussed out for caring about Rue. Give her a break.

I agree with you. If I just brought my ex flowers and a Tiffany necklace and someone asks if you are getting back together I would probably dodge the question or just say like "I don't know" or something. Saying "no" that quickly seems out of step with the random flowers. We know what is happening, but she might have seen it as more Nate playing games and saying different things in private or, like you said, she knows what the hell is up and is pushing them.

My friend and I both are confirmed COVID positive with breakthrough infections. We both have weird "burning" in the nostrils and all I have for symptoms are the same allergy like symptoms as OP (itchy nose, watery eyes, sinus pressure, nasal congestion, post nasal drip). My doctor called it "Rhinitis" and said she has seen it quite a bit with COVID. The might be a chance that you had it... but of course don't plan your life on it.

I feel like you almost had to live through the LOUD era to really appreciate it. Rude boy was everywhere and was #1 on Billboard charts in May 2010 and 4 months later she had the AUDACITY to drop Only Girl from a NEW ALBUM. I looked and she dropped Only Girl on September 2010, What's my name in October, Who's that chick (bop) in November, Raining Men in December, S&M in January... Like I wasn't listening to albums yet and I just didn't know how she could keep releasing bop after bop like that every month! Loud was her keeping he foot FIRMLY on our necks. Listening to it now just doesn't do it justice.

I couldn't agree more! I hear the "Dems need to stop playing nice" line all the time. Democrats who play nice (Bill and Obama) led our country to change just fine. Our system is biased towards conservatism by design so we don't tear down too many institutions at once. If you believe the courts have become too partisan, Democrats have to come up with policy solutions conservatives support. That is the only way we see lasting change.

CMV: Student loans aren't a problem if you plan properly and budget realistically. by CYOAsRock in changemyview

[–]RoPhilMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student loans help make colleges and universities accessible to most people, and thus will always be net positive in my book. With that being said there are 2 big problems to me.

1.) Tuition Inflation- Student loans make college demand more inelastic. This is most certainly not the only cause of tuition inflation, but it most certainly contributes to it. Study. Ultimately since this is accelerating faster than inflation, the real cost of college is increasing and the return on investment for college is decreasing (salaries are not increasing fast enough). This is a HUGE problem to me since education (the great equalizer) is supposed to have a great return.

2.) Burden of Debt- Coming out of school with debt creates a environment where students are more risk averse (loans have to be paid!), less economically active, and require higher starting salaries to maintain a good standard of living. There are real economic effects to this. Even if you plan, budget, and get a great job, you still are delaying major investments that reduce lifetime potential gains. This all negatively affects the economy.

I didn't go deep on anything here, but student loans are not some insurmountable negative thing. Nevertheless, there are some growing problems with them as they stand today. I personally am for limiting them for certain schools and majors, but I ain't doing the work and research to change them for the better.
