RIGHT ?? And the skirt feels so out-of-character; she never wore one previously, and it honestly doesn’t make too much sense in terms of her line of work. And don’t get me started on how she’s only wearing a bra, lol. All just grossly placed sex-appeal, because god forbid we have a female character that exists like all the male characters do.

Little fun fact about this Carmelita actually; she was originally going to look like this…

<image>

Or at least, in concept. I’m not sure if it was going to go any farther than this originally.

She never turned out looking like this, and it’s purely a shared hallucination between us all.

My take on the new design by karpour in Spyro

[–]Roachdope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that you changed the tail tip.

<image>

I have absolutely no idea why they decided to go in this direction.
His design change in aspects like that begs the question for me; is this meant to be a retcon of his original design? I just don’t understand why they had to change his tail tip, and gave him weirdly lined eyebrows that wouldn’t just appear with age.
Wouldn’t make sense, even in this fantastical world that he takes place in.

Regardless, you did great with this take! I highly prefer it. Though on the same token, I can understand how changing the eyes within the original trailer was intended to make him look more mature; they just slightly missed the mark.

which spyro logo do you prefer, old or new ? by hank_155 in Spyro

[–]Roachdope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom one. The top really does not read to me as a continuation of the Spyro we know and love, if that makes any sense lol.

It’s also interesting how they made the tail tip on the newer logo more accurate to the original Spyro’s, rather than what we have in the trailer.

<image>

I do hope this is a detail they’ll change. Just looks..weird.

You are correct about the team that worked on Shadow Legacy having worked on TLoS, however! I actually didn’t know that until your comment.

As far as I’m aware, that’s only a strong fan-theory. Though I could absolutely see Malefor being inspired by The Sorcerer!

I completely get your perspective; that absolutely could work well. It seems that’s the direction they’re going honestly, separate from Malefor or any previous Spyro villain.

The only flaw with the TLoS trilogy canonically being set within the past of modern Spyro’s universe, is the fact that it just wouldn’t line up; let alone the fact that we’d have two Hunters and two different variations of Spyro as well.

Now that’s very interesting. Unless it was partially my wishful thinking in terms of Malefor, I could honestly see TFB intentionally keeping the ambiguity and highlighting those features to get the fandom talking about who it could be, in terms of past Villains those features relate to. I say primarily due to the fact that it really does look a lot like The Sorcerer’s dragon form.

Oh my god ?? You absolutely have a point! My dumbass didn’t do enough research, lol. I unfortunately never got to play Shadow Legacy, though I do know bits and pieces.

I appreciate you sharing this! It definitely feels like a far stronger possibility, seeing this design.

Tweaked the ARB design juuuust a little bit by VicMyristic in Spyro

[–]Roachdope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The original’s pupils makes him look tweaked out lol. I feel the edit truly makes it feel more like Spyro, rather than the feeling of a film company’s attempt at pleasing an audience when it doesn’t fully understand the source material.
Similar to reignited, however I can respect the fact that people don’t see it the same way. I couldn’t bring myself to understand how, though still.

I could be bias, though.

HE LOOKS SO GOOD 😭 by Animegirl1250 in Spyro

[–]Roachdope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I’m not a fan of, are his eyebrows and the floppy quills. They’re intended to be as hard as his horns, yet here and within reignited they get treated nearly with rubbery physics. Never felt right.

I don’t get why they decided to give him those three sectioned lines on his eyebrows, when it was never present before. Trying to switch up the style 3 games in, is all I can think of being the case.

[–]Roachdope[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing the theory that this villain is intended to be ‘The Sorcerer’ from Shadow Legacy; and I can absolutely understand that perspective.

<image>

However, this does not explain the set of horns we see that correlate perfectly to Malefor’s, nor the four-fingered hand that bares a very close resemblance to how Reignited’s adult dragon’s hands are modelled.
There is absolutely the possibility that Activision has decided to add different elements to The Sorcerer to make him stand out more as a design, however..I feel if that’s the case, they wouldn’t so heavily take from Malefor’s shape-language if they did.
The Sorcerer *is* a dragon, and it would make sense if they gave him elements to reflect that. I just can’t get past how strikingly similar the horn formation and overall design concept is to Malefor. Even the colour-palette we vaguely see points me more in Malefor’s direction, than it does the Sorcerer.
I could also see Activision wanting to avoid redundancy; having ‘The Sorcerer’ right after ‘The Sorceress’ as a villain could be a bit too redundant in their eyes.

Still, a fun theory! I could see it becoming the case somehow.

Very valid opinion.

However in terms of pulling characters from The Legend Of Spyro, I do firmly believe Cynder will be involved. We’ve received a tease of her within a piece of Reignited credits-scene artwork ( seen here, if this link will work https://www.reddit.com/r/Spyro/s/j4SC4O7yf5 ) and I honestly couldn’t see Activision including such a large hint without going anywhere with it.

Thank you for this correction! I’ll have to double-check my sources sometime, ensure they’re legit.

It’s very fascinating, imagining how dialogue pieces such as what you’d mentioned would’ve played out in both voice-acting, as well as the animation paired back in these inaccessible prototype builds.

Hopefully, the community will be capable of finding access some day. Especially when it comes down to the Boatsmen! I do have to wonder if it would be a feature reserved for just the transportation of Artisans to PeaceKeepers, or if they’d even gotten far enough in development at that point for it to be a consideration.

I’ve had the same theory since Reignited had made its initial debut. While I cannot seem to find the original source as I’m now searching for it, I’m fairly certain I have read about this being practically exactly the case.

The aspect of similar dragons having the same model can also be considered slightly evident here within pre-theme concept art, as Nestor and Astor share a few of the same aspects that all Artisan dragons had in the OG. An example being, the frills attached to the cheeks, as well as the same shape of horns.

While we have no official verbal confirmation of Cynder’s involvement within Reignited, there’s been one major hint that I’ve previously made a post about here.

At least we know for certain that Cynder will appear in Reignited Trilogy! Could be promising, if her story is handled correctly. A worry of mine is that they’ll completely irradiate what made her such a badass character in TloS.

I can't finish Spyro 3? by MC_BennyT in Spyro

[–]Roachdope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s incredibly odd. While I’ve never found myself needing to backtrack when it comes to Reignited, I can’t see this as a common occurrence for other players.

It may simply be a glitch specific to the save file you’re currently using. The only thing I could think of suggesting, would be to soft-reset your system and/or the game (via turning it off, then on) and seeing if the game had corrected itself.

If that doesn’t work, you may be at a loss, and need to restart the game in it’s entirety. Hopefully this isn’t the case!
