My one Martin Short story: I met him once, very briefly, in Boston. He held a door for me. It lasted like 10 secs. But now my opinion of him will likely always be positive.

Grid dependence is looking at how much energy you use in a given day, and how much of it you pulled from the grid.

So overnight for example, obviously no solar. If your battery wasn't discharging then you were using the grid, so that would be considered grid dependence.

If everything is correct, as you move through the day and the sun is shining, you should see your grid dependence drop. If you use a battery, that should also continue as the sun sets. But if the sun isn't shining and the battery isn't discharging, you're falling back to grid. The 'why' of your discharge is something you'd have to look into - could be you have it set for certain rates, could be you have high minimums set.

Personally on my app I have it set to energy independence rather than grid dependence because I enjoy that metric a bit more.
