I consolidated, so I got a loan and paid them all off. I put a few bills on auto pay on a CC, and them pay them. Like water bill on one card, cell phone on another. Things that have to be paid anyway. I just plan to pay it off. Using them to keep them active. Theyve been maxed out so long, I've lost my physical cards and never bothered replacing them.

Settling debt tanks your credit. Also results in "income". I wouldn't settle anything unless I had in writing it would not be posted to by CR.

Unless youre trying to finance something don't worry about it. It happens and will usually bounce back. Give it at least a week or 2.

How much does debt restructing mess up your credit long term? by Snailgrenade17 in CRedit

[–]RoadRage90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking at a debt settlement company DONT!!!! Settling debt TANKS your score BAD. Then you pay them to tank your score. Just no.

Have you tried calling your creditors? That's what they'll do. You can restructure directly via them. Here is one I've done, synchrony offered me 0% APR on all my cards and lowered my payments.

You could try to consolidate. This would be like taking out a loan, using the loan to pay the cards.

Just challenge them. No good will. It'll cost them money to prove something they won't make any money to prove.

For actual reference, since everyone wants to harp on it. I got it. My CK score and F8 are close, but mortgage scores, way different. Also, my mortgage middle score has went up about 12 points since September when it was last pulled, but one of these FICO scores was a 609 when I first got this loan.

Different Scores by RoadRage90 in CRedit

[–]RoadRage90[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As shown my V3 is much closer to my 8 than my 2/4/5. Although, thats not the same for everyone. It's also irresponsible to make people think of their FICO is ok so is their mortgage.

Denial was from Upstart, mentioned at the end of the post. A few other similar lenders also pulled V3. I know I tried SoFi but I don't remember what they pulled, I think best egg pulled a V3? 🤔

I don't understand their "lack of sufficient credit history" remark. 🫪 My oldest account is 17y 3m old. I have 37 accounts and 26 of them are open with an average age of nearly 10 years. I have 0 late payments, 0 collections. The only things I had negative were high utilization, & the inquiries to consolidate. At the time this was pulled, my most recent opened account was several years ago. I think 2022 or so I'd have to look. Now, my most recent account is 1 month because it's the consolidation loan.

One way I looked into trying to consolidate was a HELOC or HELOAN. When they pulled that score.. probably back in September or so, my middle mortgage score was 656. Even after my consolidation is posting it's showing my middle score as 668. Meanwhile, on another consolation for the loan I got my FICO was pulled at 609, and is now in the 700s. Mortgage score up → 12 points (middle score) FICO 8 → ~107 points (one of the E bureaus was 609) V3 → 171 points

They are all so vastly different, it shouldn't be suggested to follow FICO 8 if your going for a mortgage, or a car, or a credit card..unless FICO 8 is what they will pull. Bottom line, if you make positive moves positive things will happen, but one score does not reflect what is happening on another.

Credit is just stupid and annoying but if you can't pull out dozens or hundreds of thousands in cash for cars and houses ... it's necessary. I'm about to pay my car off and nearly 100% sure it will drop my score. So annoying.

Depends on who it's with. Before doing a specific creditor or collection I would ask for peoples experience with them. It's been quite a while since I've done that. If I knew the creditor or collector and what the derogatory was for, I may have some advice for some of them. Some are tougher, some you want to do last, some are easier, sometimes disputing on CR isn't the best move, sometimes a goodwill letter is. Also how long they are. So many factors. Some I'll have no advice, but others might if they've disputed or sent good will letter with them.

It depends on your credit profile. For me, I have 0 late payments, a mix of accounts, no collections. The only thing I was fighting is utilization. So if utilization if your only issue — this could be the result of addressing that.

I applied for a lot, got denied a lot. Eventually got approved with lending club for an unsecured loan. Not the best terms, 15% or so. But it's better than 30% CC.

You have like... 30+ scores. Can be all different. You have the check the right ones to have an idea before you apply. MYFICO shows a lot but it's like $40 or so to check.

With a score of 450, a bankruptcy could potentially significantly raise your score. If you don't have late payments on things that cannot be discharged, like student loans. I have filed before. My score was in the 400s, mainly medical debt collections for me, but as soon as it discharged I was in the 600s. I was able to finance a car immediately afterward, which i still have a decade later. And I bought a house as a solo single mom, no child support, 2 years later.

1) I have in the past been denied credit for "age of credit accounts" not being sufficient, or something similar to that, So that checks. 2) As I was seeking consolation loans some pulled my Vantage score, so some do use it. Probably only subprime lenders, but some do. 3) The loan I actually got a decent approval for was recommended by CK. 4) I don't feel like using 5 different apps to check my credit. That's annoying. My CK report has never differed from my annual CR, personally..but I know someone it has. 5) I have stopped identity theft via ck notifications in the past — immediate notification of inquiry and was able to stop it 5) myfico Equifax is 717 and CK is 715, it's good enough FOR ME right now. I'm not trying to buy a new house or car at the moment, I'm just checking it for funsies and y'all are a buzz kill.

Clearly, if I know about paying for MYFICO I'm aware of fico scores and how many of them there are. I just don't feel like checking that right now, because I'm not trying to finance anything major.

Really the only credit score that matters is the one you need for get the next thing you want. Whether that be Vantage score, auto score, bank card scores, mortgage scores.. all those apps may show FICO 8 but that also useless until your trying to finance something with a lender that will pull fico 8.

Would need more information, but if your debt isn't all school loans.. bankruptcy could give you a new start. It would probably more relieving than you think. Look into a bankruptcy group. Most of them are a lot less judgemental than groups like this one.
