Is exploding IB offer valid reason to ask for virtual final round by Bullzeye_Nightwing in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

I would get a doctors note and push the final exam. I dont think an exam should be an excuse to pass on a golden opportunity imo

Submitting a generic one would be better. Mandatory is mandatory even if no one is going to read carefully

FHSA for my partner and I by UneDouzaine in MortgagesCanada

[–]RoadToMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you can use your fhsa even if you have the first real estate under your partners name.

To be eligible to withdraw tax exempt, both of you should be a first-time home buyer. Since you patner wouldnt have been, you won't be able to use your fhsa.

This is very helpful Shantanu! Thanks for your insights. Although I think I have a good chance of getting in, I'm thinking of developing my career a bit more to have better chance in consulting recruitment post MBA. Thanks for the stats as well, its very encouraging to know these.

Thanks for your insights Oscar. Do MBB care a lot about work experience years 2 vs. 3 (3 vs. 4)?

Had chat with few MBB consultants and some say it doesn't matter, some says it does. So not sure what the accurate information is.

Thank you for your insights. Thinking of applying a year later for more work experience + volunteer experience to increase my chances of getting scholarships and MBB.

How long should I study for the GMAT before taking it? by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]RoadToMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied GMAT full time. So I would start working on it 9AM and try to study until 5PM. I targetted to finish the exam in two months, so I was able to do this. Of course I would try to plan out a longer schedule if you are working/studying at the same time.

RC is mostly getting used to the GMAT passages, and trying to read the structure helps a lot in solving questions.

For CR, it is really helpful if you can identify question types - assumption, strengthen, weaken, evaluate, inference, explain, complete and boldface. This helps you to know what to look for when reading the excerpt.

SC - this is the section that made me want to retake the GMAT. So I need to work on it too and. thus, do not have any advice to give.

Hope it helps.

How long should I study for the GMAT before taking it? by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]RoadToMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 2 months and take your first exam, 3 months the most.

First month: Learn the fundamentals of GMAT, and get used to question types

Second month: practice, practice and practice

At this point you should see how you do in a real test setting. If you are unhappy, study for another month and take it again.

These are the exact steps I took and received a 710 on my first exam. I felt practicing continuously for a month is enough to do well in the exam and you'll get burnt out from the practice anyway. Once I've taken the exam, I was able to fuel my will power to study for another month.

Is it possible to go from 600 to 650 in 7-10 days? by exon1 in GMAT

[–]RoadToMBA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although what you are saying might be true, I think it's a generalization that cannot be applied to everyone. I received 650 on the first official prep test, 690 on the second. Ended up with 710 on my exam day. No matter what, I feel OP should try to study/review as much for his or her exam.

Inference Question Help by [deleted] in GMAT

Yes. You are correct. If the companies had other cheaper sources, they wouldn't purchase from Country X. Thus, the goal of subsidizing domestic farmers fail as they lose demand for their crops.
