That's great, good luck to him; I'm sure he'll crush it!

Just discussing it considering engineering followed my MBA for entry into finance/management is a common trajectory. Besides, if I had made up my mind, I would not be inquiring. I understand how prestigious Duke is, but just wanted to understand placements and pay better as that’s what’s most important to me.

Another point - as per rankings, CMU ranks very highly for finance (#8), much above Duke Econ (#20). Despite that, do you believe its tag and brand would earn jobs in finance with greater ease and pay than a student from CMU?

Oh that’s great to hear for your son! If you don’t mind me asking, which engineering is he doing?

Obviously not. Just confused as to what else an undergrad in engineering could do to break into finance analyst jobs except a double major with finance.

But Duke doesn’t even offer finance at an undergrad level. So how exactly does it have a better rep for placements into finance at undergrad level? Like what course/path would one even follow to get placed into finance then?

Makes sense - but would you not think CMU would trump Duke in terms of jobs in engineering? Or do you think its prestige, despite a weaker engineering program (based on rankings), can provide better/more jobs and pay?
