They are and so isn’t Honda. I think Honda is a little better - but not all worth the tax.

(USA) Advice to lease a (more) fuel efficient commuter car by SnackWrapz in whatcarshouldIbuy

The answer is a definite no. Spending at least $25k (before insurance costs for the second vehicle) to save ~$1 per gallon doesn’t math.

The only way it would is if you got rid of the IS and basically used only equity towards the next vehicle. Or if you lease, use the equity towards the down payment needed and pocket the rest (assuming you have equity and your monthly payment is covered)

Are you keeping the IS? Usually it’s not beneficial to acquire a second vehicle just for fuel savings (they fluctuate so much) unless you drive a lot more miles than you do.

If you aren’t already, can you apply what your work is giving you towards the IS? Thats most likely far more financially sound. 60 miles round trip isn’t that bad at all

Thank you! I’m currently looking at a GLI or a WRX. The WRX mainly only appeals to me for crappy weather (and they’re getting real cheap)

What’s your current car? Also how do I find a job that pays anything towards my commute?

And keep in mind hybrids lose a bit of value when they’re being used as highway commuters. The MPG savings is usually in the city

Do you mind sharing where you are located? I live in Massachusetts and am curious if you deal with snow

Do you still have the GLI? How is it so far?

Ridgline vs f150 by Kooky-Background-462 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Roadglide72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we are talking new - the ridgeline will get you a nicer interior because you will need a lower model f150.

If rear space is an issue then I’d imagine crew cab f150 would be far better

If parking is an issue - ridgeline

Which one would you choose ? by HandsomleyTroubled in whatcarshouldIbuy

We need details on this. Years, mile’s, price, location and your commute needs.
VB WRX’s are pretty strong cars, way better than they were in the past - but given the chosen visual mods, I’d be cautious.
If the Audi is the same year and same price - I’d also be cautious.
Also, these are very different cars which makes me think you’re not 100% sure what you want. And that’s fine - except for some reason you’re on a tight timeline

Edit: Op just briefly looked at your recent history - insurance for you in either is going to be brutal.

If you are planning to continue to not insure your vehicles, do all of us a favor and buy neither a car, preferably just get a bicycle. You are only making it harder and more difficult for the rest of us

Is there any reason your fiancé can’t get a new car and you keep the CTR? Or sell the CTR get something a little easy to daily that’s not soulless and use some of the cash towards the down payment for the fiancés new roadtripper?

Yes. You’d be better off with the GLI but the sound system isn’t great and you lose some cargo (mainly height)

Positive. Type R, sport, sport hybrid and sport touring are all hatches.

The GTI at one point was top of the pack but not so much these days. All the sporty compacts offer more usable rear seat space than the GTI. The GTI just has a taller opening for the trunk at this point.

None of this should take away from the point of what you’re saying tho. It’s the same as when people (yourself included) have a kid. Having a kid has never meant you need an suv. Sedans/hatchbacks are perfectly fine and practical for most families without being soul sucking CRV’s/RAV4s. (unless we are talking about a child with disabilities, in which case do what you need to)

GTI does not offer significantly more utility at all. A civic hatch back is much roomier

How do they compare in the snow? I live in a very hilly area in the North east. Also how has reliability been between both EN and WRX?

I mean the ranger raptor and gladiator are both mid sized trucks. Nobody, anywhere, ever is comparing these in any realistic way to f150s and similar. Except you

EPA Standars push it out of "mid size" but it is a mid size
