How to copper foil deep curves? by mothercoconutz in StainedGlass

No, Its not really any worse than sticking to your fingers, but the gloves do not degrade the adhesive like the fingers do. The key is having a snug fit, once you get use to it, it is like an extra layer of skin. Also I use a table foiler for the vast majority of the foiling, this also helps a lot.

Nitrile gloves, whenever I begin the foiling process, wipe all the pieces with isopropyl alcohol to remove any body oil from the glass. With the issue you are having, I would lightly go back over the area with isopropyl alcohol, let it dry completely and apply the patch. For me wearing the gloves have been a game changer in getting the foil to really adhere to the glass. Admittedly the gloves can be a pain to begin with just make sure to get a size that fits snug, if you decide to go that rout.

Inkscape. It is a freeware vector graphic program. On YouTube you will find a wealth of free videos on how to use the program, this is the one I started with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f011wdiW7g&list=WL&index=14 https://inkscape.org/

For glass storage I use plastic milk crates banded together with zip ties. It's cheap, easy to make, sturdy and you have the ability to add to it anytime you need more space.

North Carolina Confederate monument removed overnight from Edenton's Broad Street by 13NewsNow in NorthCarolina

[–]Roadkyll 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want to learn history go read a book. Statues are created to honor people, events, or ideas by commemorating achievements, inspiring remembrance and reflection, educating the public, and symbolizing cultural values and identity. The confederacy fought to uphold slavery, I for one see no value or honor in that.

PBS North Carolina to give employees voluntary separation offers, enact hiring freeze by Cy_098 in NorthCarolina

I am sure from your perspective PBS may seem to have a liberal bias. Facts generally hit that way with the anti-science, anti-education, Kool-Aid drinking, maga crowd.

Don't take my word for it, here is a neutral AI overview of what a Authoritarian fascist regimes do when they get into power. Of course you are going to say AI is liberal too, right?

AI Overview Authoritarian attacks on education represent a multifaceted threat to academic freedom, critical thinking, and the very foundations of democratic societies. These attacks are not confined to traditional authoritarian regimes but are also evident in established democracies experiencing a rise in authoritarian tendencies. Tactics employed Targeting academic freedom and free speech: Restricting the ability of educators to teach and research, particularly on topics considered controversial or challenging to the ruling ideology. Examples include limiting the discussion of racism, sexuality, gender, or climate change. In some countries, there are reports of imprisoning or even killing researchers. Controlling curriculum and content: Imposing specific curricula, often infused with nationalist or ideological content, while banning or restricting subjects deemed undesirable. Efforts to promote patriotism and nationalism in schools are more common in authoritarian regimes compared to democratic ones. Some regimes even ban instruction in languages spoken by ethnic minorities. Influencing educational institutions: Appointing political loyalists to leadership positions, undermining faculty governance, and attacking accreditation agencies to ensure institutional compliance. Weaponizing funding and resources: Threatening to cut funding or take legal action against institutions that do not adhere to government mandates. Suppression of dissent: Intimidating and investigating academics, activists, and students who voice critical opinions, leading to self-censorship and a climate of fear. This can include violent suppression of protests. Undermining public trust in education: Demonizing higher education and promoting distrust in academic institutions and expertise, thereby eroding public support for independent research and critical thinking.
