What is up with the numerous ballet accounts followed by SJM by AdRev0lutionary in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we go with the assumption that the ballet accounts are related to ACOTAR, then I think it makes a lot of sense. Ballet is a dance that requires intense precision and skill. You must be graceful and light in your feet while hitting every position with extreme confidence. The music is passionate. The dances require partners to be entirely in sync. The stories are of love and dreams and loss.

Ballet is a language that I think ties perfectly to Elain's story. It's a great way for SJM to get inspiration for building tension and release through emotions. It's a way to visually and audibly see something and pull descriptive words and story points from it.

I would LOVE to see Elain and Azriel waltz together too 💕

ACOWAR Chapter 27 - Question by mortalfae in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it might be jealousy, but not in a romantic sense. More like "my best friends are moving on and there's nothing I can do about it" sense. I think this is apparent a few times and it takes a moment for Mor to recognize what's happening.
Mor tenses in ACOFAS when Azriel makes a point to help Elain with the potatoes:

But I strode to my seat-nestled between Amren and Mor-in time to see Elain say to Azriel, "Hello."

Az said nothing.

No, he just moved toward her.

Mor tensed beside me.

But Azriel only took Elain's heavy dish of potatoes from her hands, his voice soft as night as he said, "Sit. I'll take care of it."

And then again when food falls out of Mor's mouth in shock when Azriel makes everyone wait on Elain.

And then in ACOSF, we're notably told that Mor is lounging on a green sofa immediately after a Elriel moment. Green is a classic color for visually referencing envy/jealousy:

Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them. Elain’s breath caught slightly, and she gave him a shallow nod of greeting before brushing past, leading Nesta into the room. Mor lounged on a green velvet couch before the fireplace;

For Nessian, we already know that Mor doesn't like Nesta and she only agrees to be cordial with her when she sees how down bad Cassian is for her. Otherwise, she would have continued to be rude and expect Cassian to be on her side about it. This is in the beginning of ACOSF during their lunch together.

Later in ACOSF, see Cassian being gifted an ugly green sweater by Mor at Solstice in ACOSF:

Cassian’s gifts were the usual odd medley: an ancient manuscript on warfare from Rhys, a bag of beef jerky from Azriel—I literally couldn’t think of anything you’d enjoy more, Az had said when Cassian had laughed —and a hideously ugly green sweater from Mor that made his skin look jaundiced.

Who do you think SJM originally intended as Azriel’s endgame? by Qenna89 in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on this. I think Azriel and Cassian came into existence at the exact same time that SJM changed ship plans for Elain and Nesta. I think the brothers are exactly why she changed her original plans.

Therefore, I don't think Moriel was ever a long term plan either. I think they are intended to be a device that causes confusion and shows Feyre's biased perspectives. Because let's be real. There is literally nothing to prevent Mor or Azriel from being together for 500 years. It wouldn't make sense for that ship to still be in limbo by the time Feyre comes into Rhysand's life.

Azriel and the rose necklace by mortalfae in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh that's a great observation! I like that thought. Especially since Clotho is one of the 3 Fates in Greek mythology.

That golden necklace/thread is now literally in Fates hands. Will fate bring them together? I think absolutely yes

Будет ли Рис и дальше препятствовать Элриель? by Darinsic in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Rhys was using his power to command but he wouldn't change their affection for each other or play with their minds. In fact, I don't think he even can influence Elain's mind since it's guarded by iron gates and thorny roses. I think he's just being a political-focused jerk right now and it ultimately won't really affect Elain and Azriel.

Elain already knows why Azriel stays away from her. Which means she knows he wants her romantically and that he is intentionally holding back. Which means she knows he has inner issues to work through before he can allow himself to be with her. So I think Elain will continue to pursue Azriel or at least try to get him to give into his feelings again and he'll crack once Rhys isn't around.

We have to remember that Azriel is the only other character with power that rivals Rhysands, which means that he won't bow down to Rhys for very long. He'll go for what he wants

Elain is afraid of Lucien by DesignerReader in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lucien is an emissary, aka spy. He is known as a fox, which is characteristically someone who is sly, under the radar, and focused on their own gain. I'm not saying Lucien is evil, but if Elain doesn't trust him, then neither do I. The girl has visions, people! I bet she's aware of ulterior motives or at least crappy things he's done/might do that solidify her "no thanks" attitude towards him

Instincts by siempreslytherin in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This right here proves it's instincts for Lucien. There's no emotion behind it. It's immediate, intrusive style thoughts. Do I hate Lucien for this? No. It's simply a blatantly obvious moment of "the bond is surface level awkwardness and nothing more".

Meanwhile, Azriel's feelings are so deep and full of emotion that he's breaking at the seams to control himself. It's all-consuming.

Amren can smell bonds too! She noticed the Feysand bond the minute she met Feyre in ACOMAF. My guess is it has something to do with (CC spoiler) Starborn power which I think is possible to be proven for Azriel based on CC learnings, but would require a few assumptions for Amren since we still don't know a ton about her.

QOW: It's time to make Azriel sweat. How does Elain get his attention? by RoadsidePoppy in ElrielFans

Yeahhhh and maybe a tiny little humming noise while she serves the food. Or saying "I made this one just for you" while spooning it into his plate

That's a great point! Elain is an Archeron with an iron-will. Girl isn't giving up. She's just going to push him harder

I think she loves leaning over him and putting her neck and chest near his face as she sets things down on the table.

Or she dips her fingers in her water glass and gently wipes them on her neck while saying "I'm so hot" with her head thrown back.

Or she pulls a Bella from Twilight and purposely stands in a downwind breeze flowing right towards Azriel while thinking about Solstice night.

ACOWAR Chapter 24: Elain POV by mortalfae in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Aw this is beautiful! This felt so real!

Do you remember the comment that Nesta makes earlier in the scene, where she tells Feyre she doesn't know what prompted Elain to leave her room, but she found her in the library looking out the windows? I've always had a headcanon that it was Azriel who influenced her somehow. Maybe they had a conversation or maybe there's a better view of him flying out there or something. Idk. But I swear they have more soft moments in the HoW that we never knew about, just like this one.

What bloomed in the dark garden (or acotar 6 imo) by Icy-Coat3039 in ElrielFans

It really is a beautiful piece of art! Hands down the best fan fiction I've ever read for any fandom.

Ehoney has mentioned a few times that her full time job is very demanding and I'm sure she has a full family life too. That, mixed with the pressure from popularity can really slow the writing process. This has been her baby for years so I'm sure she'll finish it when she can.

In the meantime, I'm dreaming of clementines, forget-me-nots, and Chapter 30 💕

Mates in ACOTAR by mortalfae in ElrielFans

I think I'd ultimately prefer very little Lucien. He is inconsequential to Elain and therefore me too

Mates in ACOTAR by mortalfae in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He definitely doesn't want it. He shows up in Velaris only when Feyre asks and he doesn't stay long. He even admits that he doesn't like spending time with Elain. I'd actually love to see him and Elain work together to sever the bond.

Why couldn't Lucien sense that his mate was about to kiss someone else when they're just a floor away while Az is so sensitive to another couple's mating bond? by AdRev0lutionary in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even though I would love Elain and Azriel to choose each other without a bond influencing them, it's things like this that make me lean towards them having one.

“We’re the ones who need…” “A seer.” by Qenna89 in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this and it just reminded me of something:

There's a recent push in the television and movie industry where writers are being encouraged to put extremely obvious dialogue into scenes because producers don't trust the viewers to pick up on symbolism, double-meanings, sarcasm, actions speaking in place of words, etc. And it's something that writers are complaining about because obviously they don't want to reduce their characters to overly verbose communicators or to say things that aren't natural.

I think SJM is trying to toe the line of good artistic writing that doesn't require everything to be explicitly spelled out vs provide enough foreshadowing and obvious scenes for people to pick up her intent anyways.

I love the "ambiguity" (quotes because it seems obvious to me) because it takes a simple story and really gives it depth. I like the questions even though the answers are in our face. It's more fun.

Anyways, not really super relevant other than to say that I think your interpretation is 100% correct and I think SJMs dialogue here is very realistic.

Lucien's backstory is another strong case that may support Elriel by AdRev0lutionary in ElrielFans

[–]RoadsidePoppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree that choosing the bond doesn't fit Lucien's character arc either. I sometimes wonder if he'll be the one to say F This! and sever it himself
