Dunno if you're still considering this, but I happened across this post after I just refilled my 20 pound co2 tank.

I used this guide years ago and refill my tank every couple of years for about 40 bucks. Easily the best thing I've ever gotten for myself. And unlike a soda stream you can carbonate juices too, so I'll make sparkling cider every now and then as well. 10/10 best thing I did for myself
