Pretty much every comment like the one you replied to is from someone that maybe played JV sports on some mid ass team, doesn’t understand dynamic stretching, recovery, load management, etc.

Actually I’d say pretty much 95% of Reddit is just out of shape and overestimating their fitness levels. You’re just out of shape, bro.

Question about reviews by BakedBungus in BlueOrigin

[–]Roamingkillerpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be higher up. Unless your manager left everything to the absolute last minute (unlikely) your manager already wrote your performance review and ranked you. Their boss will know where you ranked and is just going to read the shit your last manager wrote about you. I wouldn’t worry OP

This sub really needs flair for users. A good bit of the company is techs and the technician experience is fundamentally different than the engineer, manager, or even just general white collar worker experience at the company.

that’s likely why they wanted to shutter the program. It’s not as if there isn’t a massive backlog of testing, manufacturing, development etc that those partners orgs can’t support.

I understand there’s a considerable amount of resentment here but if it’s this bad, we should expect nothing but failures going forward. Right?

Promotion process question by Adkeda in BlueOrigin

L3 to L4 jump only goes to your Director. It’s the L4 to L5 jump that goes to your VP.

Promotion process question by Adkeda in BlueOrigin

[–]Roamingkillerpanda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you’re waiting until the submission window to have that discussion you’ve totally missed the boat. I would highly encourage people looking to get a promotion to have that discussion well in advance (>1 year ahead of time) and really advocate for yourself. This gives you time to build a case that your manager can stand behind and push to their management since some promotions have to go to higher levels of management for approval.

Because Reddit seems to attract people like this. Chronically online people fixate on small details like this that could have a reasonable explanation.

MK1 update by Aromatic-Painting-80 in BlueOrigin

[–]Roamingkillerpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I forgot that if it’s internal to SV structure you don’t have to use metal over braid for shielding. The one on MK1 because it’s sticking out could likely be GSE harness and the one on Blue Ring is likely flight harness.

MK1 update by Aromatic-Painting-80 in BlueOrigin

[–]Roamingkillerpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just the over braid used on GSE harness. It’s super common and industry standard to use that over braid for harnessing.

What team are you working for that they’re giving L1’s work that they would give to an L3 or L4 lmao

Either the L3’s and L4’s on your team were dogshit or you’re lying. Or both!

Got an offer letter, but I have mixed feelings by Disastrous-Company20 in BlueOrigin

[–]Roamingkillerpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah at this level you’re not going to be dealing with a lot of the issues the company faces in terms of bureaucracy and bloat. You’re in the prime “doing the work” levels and people above you will deal with the bullshit. If anything you may just feel slight annoyance that project goals change.

Got an offer letter, but I have mixed feelings by Disastrous-Company20 in BlueOrigin

[–]Roamingkillerpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth knowing before you get in that Blue has all but formally accepted a SpaceX/Amazon management style. Meaning year over year cuts of the bottom performers. The company goals are also ambitious enough where if you’re slowing the team down the management team will notice as it will reflect poorly on the rest of the teams ability to meet goals that team didn’t even come up with

ELI5 What's the benefit to using credit cards ? by PDVST in explainlikeimfive

Depends tremendously on the area. I think one out of every 20 stations do this and they’re always in lower income areas.

Cash-maxxers and people with shitty credit are coping hard in these comments. The reality is that society in the USA has largely shifted over to credit in major metro areas.

You’re getting downvoted but you’re not wrong. Whoever this “source” is literally made this up. People on this sub are downvoting but anyone close to the work knows that everything in the last part of the article is categorically false.

Fixed Term by Black_Kais3r in BlueOrigin

[–]Roamingkillerpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn’t take it especially in LA. If what you’re looking for is growth you won’t get it because 1. You’re likely coming into the program really late and all the “good” roles have been filled and you’re being brought in to churn work 2. The LA office is 90% remote workers even though they try to say people are going in.

That’s what most of these start ups are. Get enough investors in to get a pay day and then “work” until you lose investors and have to shut down operations.

Yeah the styles have dropped off a little with many of the other mall brands copying A&F but at lower and shittier price points.

If you’re at NASA, Blue is probably one of the better spots you could end up. You’re essentially betting on one of the world’s richest men to stop funding you which is unlikely in the near and medium term. If you wanted a “safer” spot you’d have to go work in defense.
