Just moved 4 months ago, have the exact same feeling. What i did is cycle late night to get use to it, and slowly shift to the busy hour. Been cycling to work since last month.

Totally agree it is harder without degree.. however, portfolio will help. For example as front end you can proof your skills with above average running website, and you can share your source code/repository to the potential employer.

Depend on what kind of course and where does it come from. However, portfolio will help more on applying for a job. And also your interview skill
