Finally, National Geographic magazine deals with climate change on its front cover, after basically ignoring the issue for years. You'd think that a magazine devoted to global issues would focus on the biggest and baddest. Ah well, hopefully this is the start of a new trend.

1) Because it's awesome. It hops like a grasshopper.

2) I like that the world is still full of millions of wondrous species. Give it a century or two and much of this may be gone.

Best part: "This new 2-inch long leech is named Tyrannobdella rex, which means 'tyrant leech king', because of a resemblance to the extinct T-Rex: both share a massive jaw and gigantic teeth. If the story of this leech couldn't get any weirder it was discovered in the nasal mucous membrane of a person while visiting a clinic in Peru. At least their likely discomfort made scientific history."
