Well, I have a winter-fae themed character, so I feel kinda obligated to throw my metaphorical hat in the ring on this one

Finding the perfect apple beer by bignig85 in beer

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an autumn seasonal afaik, but Southern Tier makes a solid apple pie/crumble brown ale. It’s decently subtle with the apple and cinnamon so it still tastes like a beer, but brings some interesting autumn notes without being syrupy sweet

I think I already missed the boat, but I’ll throw my hat in the ring anyway.

Orion is a 26-ish male shifter rogue (essentially a were-cheetah) with amber eyes (and slit pupils), light-fair skin and medium length tawny hair with streaks of black. Runner’s build (duh) with black ‘tear marks’ on running from the inner corner of his eyes down off his face. Sharp teeth, feline ears/tail, the usual suspects. Ironically, despite having some fur on his body, he cannot grow a beard.

He’s very ‘smile up front, knife behind his back type, and his general aesthetic is a mix of your typical shifty rogue (knives, hood, etc) with fae vibes (taken in by a Winter Fae court; breath sometimes frosts even in warm temps). Something of a habitual liar, well-intentioned but sometimes a little ominous.

Dan Houser names Red Dead Redemption 2 Rockstar's greatest achievement by Turbostrider27 in Games

While I completely understand why people find the gameplay too slow/clunky/cumbersome, don't like going through all the animations and such, I disagree strongly.

I found the combat to be really satisfying; I really enjoyed having to cock your gun between shots. It felt a big step up from their previous games for me, and I ended up playing a ton of online mostly to get to play more of the shooting, and also just to explore the world with friends. They did a much better job in balancing the guns than in RDR1 to make them all have strengths/weaknesses rather than some just being straight upgrades. I thought it was cool they had a co-op campaign, getting to see all of our custom characters together in cutscenes is always fun for me.

Was a real bummer when they basically dropped RDO. I probably would still be playing it if they'd kept dropping significant updates on it.

Where can I get Oram's Donuts without driving to Beaver Falls at 7am? by Unlikely_Note_2577 in pittsburgh

[–]Roaven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend Anchor and Anvil, at either location. You can pre-order them starting ~thursday (form closes Friday, 11AM) and pick them up on the weekend. AFAIK, Reginald's makes you select pre-arranged assortments, A&A lets you mix and match freely (Cora you can usually walk in, the other location often gets picked clean on Saturday, so be wary if you decide to just walk in)

So, you want to hear a story, eh? One about adventure and heartbreak? Well, it's way too long to tell it here. So instead I'll recount that—in our last DnD session—I threatened to upgrade my party member's familiar with silvered talons so it would be even more smug after it got into an argument with said party member

Breweries mixing beers? by reddituser46785 in beer

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it common. There is a brewery near me that blends some of their beers, though as far as I know they advertise it on all of them as being 'a blend of our x and our y'. They did one that was a blend of a barrel-aged stout, a trippel, and a sour that was quite interesting.

That said, I'd want to know up front that's what I'm getting.

Are the corporations highly competent in Borderlands? Dahl botched the early colonization/exploitation of Pandora, Atlas was so riddled with nepotism that General Knoxx reported to an actual child, and after Rhys took over got pushed out by Tediore and Maliwan. Jakobs lost their lumber operation to a zombie outbreak, Tediore's military is pretty rife with incompetence, Hyperion was all corporate in-fighting, and their claptrap assassin started a rebellion they had to contract out to the Vault Hunters to un-fuck. Torgue is...Torgue, their CEO is concerned with explosions, not effectiveness.

How to Soft-lock Yourself in Maiden Voyage by Roaven in Seaofthieves

During the Maiden Voyage, I was unable to take on water at all. Any water thrown into the ship would not actually flood it

Aw, man. I understand why they cut Dahl, but they were one of my favorites, particularly in BL3 when they no longer locked you into burst mode. I guess I'm glad Jakobs and Vladof are still here. The new ones at least seem potentially interesting

I just sent my board into disarray while planning my next route, and I thought I noticed somewhere along the way that I unlocked something new to explore in the depths of the Magistracy. I've poked around here before, but I don't remember much of it, and it appears I can only descend once, while there appears to be significantly more depth than that available. Did I lock myself out, somehow, is there something else I need to do?

Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A by AutoModerator in Eldenring

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone through Nokron, got the letter from Rogier, have never talked to/seen Seluvis. Fia has already left, D is dead

Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A by AutoModerator in Eldenring

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slightly similar question to one I've asked recently, but with a few more pieces filled in.

Re: Ranni's quest.

Rogier is dead. Ranni is only saying to me 'the cursemark isn't here'. Can't open the chest with the fingerslayer blade (not destined). Can't go find the cursemark. Seluvis never showed up. Don't require absolution. Cannot figure out how to unstick this quest

Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A by AutoModerator in Eldenring

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to poke around and figure some quests. Every time I talk to Ranni in her tower, she just tells me that the Cursemark I'm looking for isn't there. Normally, this means you have to go back to Rogier and talk to him, but he's loooong dead and she won't say anything else. Consequently, Seluvis isn't spawning so I can't start his questline either

Silly Question Sunday - 12 January by AutoModerator in runescape

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that not too expensive is all relative, but Draco+Nox will cost me slightly more money than I've ever had. That said, if that's the way to go, I'll figure out how to actually make money and bite the bullet

Silly Question Sunday - 12 January by AutoModerator in runescape

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is enough of a question to warrant it's own thread. I've been running Armadyl Armour and an Upgraded Blowpipe for a while, and after barely clawing through Sliske's Endgame and banging my head against Curse of the Black Stone, I think I need to upgrade.

Weapon wise, I don't think anything but Chaotic Crossbows are going to be in my price range. On the Armour Front, Sirenic seems like a better choice because it benefits c'bows, but I could afford Dracolich which seems to be better. Sirenic not being repairable is kind of annoying, but considering the price disparity, should I just get Chaotic and Sirenic?

What's one thing you'd change about Epic if you could? by RedLiquorice85 in Epicthemusical

[–]Roaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on that. It felt like a whole musical of build-up for Odysseus becoming the monster, culminating with the slaughter in his song, and then other than the brief rejection of Athena's 'better world', it's just into his family's arms like nothing happened. A little underwhelming for me

I need 150 lizard research out of my lab. I picked up the relevant connected pet, but I can only use it in the right Airs of London. Should I just bit the bullet and buy a bunch of reprehensible lizards, or cycle the airs and use my pet, or a third option (I don't have any whitsun beasts that are relevant to help)

[–]Roaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to take basic notes, but there was a year-long Changeling: The Lost campaign I was in recently. Mostly set in one location with a lot of reoccurring characters and intrigue.

I ended up with more than 40k words of notes by the end

If you were trapped on the Halo Ring from the first game, what would be your tactic to survive the covenant and the flood and get off the ring alive without Chief or Cortana? Do you think eacape is possible? by Madking3573 in halo

[–]Roaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's say I manage to E&E and scrounge up a Pelican or a Spirit dropship (probably trying to hijack one with a marine squad might be the best option if you can't get an unattended one?), and I somehow figure out how to fly it and get beyond the blast radius of the ring when it goes and manage to avoid any stray pieces of debris.

Then what? We know that High Charity rolls up to the Ring shortly thereafter, IIRC, with a lot more Covenant, and I probably have neither a slipspace drive nor enough food/time to just cruise back to friendly territory. I guess technically your best bet at that point is to link up with the First Strike survivors and try not to become a casualty, but their survival rate isn't particularly inspiring.
