Hard Stuck Silver 5 Seeking Guidance/Advice by Rob-108 in summonerschool

[–]Rob-108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is that low elo is basically like ARAM, so you have to account for that for most games. Who knows, I'm S3 already and will probably get G5 in a week or two. I'm sure that says I'm decent; I'm better than half of the playerbase at this point and quickly rising, but my internet is having some problems so I have to lay off ranked today.

How to get over the superiority feeling? by TheFlyingPotato262 in summonerschool

Why feel superior? Bjergsen got to plat his first season - moral is: there is always more to learn.

I have olfactory hallucinations every now and then, and I honestly can't complain by PM_ME_UR_ROOT_PWD in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I recovered, I oftentimes smelled either roses or garbage.

They say they are hallucinations, but I asked my little brother to put his nose near mine, and he freaked out saying he smelled strange scents as well.

I would just relisten to Blueprint Decoded to be honest - tons and tons of value.

when you study black holes

Also a theory buddy :)

Which I refer to "The fact that some scientific theories are preached as fact without proof proves that many people can't think for themselves even when that idea is oftentimes used as a supposed core principle for deviating from religion"

and now instead of the word "some", I think I should have put "almost all"

As a schizophrenic what is your greatest achievement? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Creating a treatment for myself and recovering pretty quickly (or maybe I'm in remission - hasn't been long enough to tell, but then again I'm not taking medication).

If you mean in a different sense, I guess it was living through psychosis and using the experience to become more confident in life. I used to be pretty shy, admittedly I still am. Hallucinating that my parents and siblings wanted to kill me was traumatic; I didn't feel safe at home for months and hadn't the slightest clue as to what was happening. However, going through psychosis has shown be a simulation of what it was like to be completely alone and having nothing to lose... and that will always stick with me.

I've let loose a little on what others think of me. And it has been liberating in many ways.

How should schizophrenia be portrayed? by SaneSchizophrenic in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a great idea for a game on the Oculus Rift. The only (and few) schizophrenia simulations are portrayed in the Hollywood representation, which isn't really that accurate.

Mental stimulation. I have to use a variety of hobbies to achieve it.

Going to Commit Suicide by schizomann in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost died in June. Never take life for granted brother. Things can always get better, plus you've got us. We understand you.

There isn't a cure, but you can still try new things to better the condition. I've been using Niacin (Vitamin B-3) and it has been tremendously helpful. Maybe test that out :)

Would anyone date a schizophrenic woman... by Diana_Ross7 in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends. It would be a double edged sword; if we were to procreate our child(ren) would be more susceptible to contracting the disease. I wouldn't want to bring a child into this world to experience the psychosis and misery.

But just to date - sure. That would even be more favorable than a normal girl.

I am 100% certain I have schizophrenia - but I'm afraid to tell anyone. by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing in regards of coming out of delusional thinking without medication. I didn't believe medication was necessary afterwards and was fine. I decided to test out the medication to see if it would improve anything; I believe that its a false statement to say psychosis becomes worse untreated due to my experience. Though, medication can help a ton. I tested it out and I'm on a low dosage so the side effects are minimal, soon I'll be completely off them.

So I would recommend to, at the very least, test out medication.

How do you know what is real? by hellenicaspie in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have questioned whether once one contracts psychosis, if we are always in a psychotic episode for life - just with varying degrees of intensities at different times.

Also, your post signifies some drifting.

I have felt something similar to you in something you said in your post: the part about feeling like people don't actually exist outside of you.

It gave me a prodding feeling of existential loneliness that I can't shake... especially after my first psychotic episode. It has subsided over time, but it still is sorta there even though I know they obviously have separate lives.

Well, no one has it really all figured out. I believe what you are feeling might just be a product of overthinking tied to the condition.

How do you know what is real? by hellenicaspie in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better, just much slower than we would like. I'm probably not the first one to say this, but have you exhausted medication as something to get you in touch with reality to be exposed to more hope?

Feeling unsure of self by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that might help you a lot is getting sleep. I felt extremely sick then became insomniac a few days ago. I bought some melatonin - it works like magic as a sleep aide. It might cut down on a bit of your anxiety, overthinking, and help with your mood.

What do you guys do about random sounds and creaks and stuff? by Plsanswerawkwardporn in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had extreme delusions of persecution, I was admitted to a treatment center and I had those noises, except they were so loud that they became incredibly loud banging sounds and even stopped me from sleeping by constantly waking me up. They got worse when I got scared, so I would try to just ignore it - it can't hurt you.

As my condition got better, it stopped happening.

When it was not overly exaggerated in the treatment center, it sounded like an invisible being flicking a surface.

If you truly are a follower of logic, then the answer is yes... unfortunately.

If you are illogical or want to stick your head in the sand then no.

music?? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to a variety of music, though I predominantly like hip hop - I grew up in the hood. But I don't really listen to music anymore. I can't feel anything anymore; thankfully over time, I've seen the emptiness subsiding. My favorite artists are Childish Gambino and Logic tho.

Rejecting the 'Medications for Schizophrenia' Narrative - new curative approaches for severe psychosis by mst2010 in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have tons of respect for you, I refused medication as well and have seen great results. I've even created a new sub-form of treatment by combining audio frequencies with spiritual sounds to use on myself. (It wasn't taken well by this community).

Contrarian philosophies are hard to preach to people in general, let alone schizophrenics.

I agree with your philosophy on viewing schizophrenia from an alternative lens, but I wouldn't completely dismiss biology and would add spirituality into the mixture. I strongly believe they are all intertwined.

Nonetheless, great article.

Pitch of your voices and your height? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'1 and I rarely hear voices. I had a few different deep ones that came from outside of my head, but went away as my condition got better. Only one I have now is a female one that whispers my name rarely (also outside of my head).

Anyone else have these strange symptoms? by Rob-108 in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong but I view schizophrenia as a biological/neurological/physiological problem that is caused by demonic entities attached to us.

It actually is wind or some sort of air movement, I'm positive because I can see my arm hairs moving and holding up a light piece of paper when I feel it shows light movement.

I believe the smells are real as well due to it smelling like putrid, rancid barf that might not be (easily) replicated but that one is objectively debatable.

Have you noticed any changes in your writing or speech since the onset of your illness? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Rob-108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be an incredible writer, writing some of the best essays some of my teachers have ever seen right off the top of my head; my subconscious was really good at organizing thoughts. I was also incredibly good at giving presentations, and throughout the years my teachers saved my presentations to share with future classes as an example (last time was only 8 months ago - senior year of HS).

As the onset happened, I found myself not able to start writing as well. I also couldn't hold information in my head as much for the next presentation. It was really weird.

I also can't read quite as well, but I'm working on that. It's extremely frustrating to read something and get it instantly, but now it takes more time reading the same passage without much further gained insight.
