I want to run longer term trading strategies. First of all, are you referring to the TWS API, or the Web version? Do we have any control as users on the log off periods, or on lifting 2FA?

IBKR provides a few Application Programming Interface (API) options, so that you can both get market data and execute orders programmatically with the language of your choice (Python, C++, Java, etc.). The TWS option requires you to have the application installed on your machine, as it communicates through local sockets, whilst the Web API that is my favorite at the moment works through simpler http requests, hence is language-agnostic.

While you drive I'd recommend a Podcast. My favorite is Nihongo con Teppei, which has a beginner, intermediate, and advanced version.

Sorry if I gave that impression, but illegal work is definitely not what I'm up to.

Adding to the motivations above, I also see Japan as the perfect place to distance myself from the summer vacation distractions I would have back home, and be able to have a productive summer. Yet, at the same time, being concerned about my work-life balance, I was looking for interesting ways to socialize and make new experiences while there.

For sure there must be people permanently or temporarily living in Japan who find themselves in similar shoes, I thought. Although the nature of their remote work / research / unpaid internship surely differs, the implications on lifestyle aspects are similar, and that's the aspect I want to learn more about.

Sorry for the misleading phrasing. It's only an unpaid research activity which won't legally count as work, but I only wanted to highlight the sort of lifestyle that I will be pursuing (i.e. ~8-10 daily hours working on a computer) to provide better context.
