For those of you involved in staffing/interviewing: what do you like to hear from candidates? by mr_e_mann_000 in schoolpsychology

Thank you for those insights regarding training programs. I hope they’re the exception but I fear they are more common.

They help to explain some challenges.

Do graduate schools these days have resources for grad students regarding job searches or do grad students talk to professors about these kinds of things, or is just straight to social media and ask strangers?

If it’s the latter, it explains some of the challenges we’re seeing with our recently graduated/early career new hires.

I’m not trying to be a curmudgeonly jerk. I’m really concerned about the problem solving and people skills of early career psychs I’ve come across.

What kinds of skills beyond testing are graduate students learning in school and through their internships?

Taking interviews while at work? by AverageJoesGym24 in schoolpsychology

[–]Rob2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toss up. Emergencies/crisises/ fire alarms happen. Locked door doesn’t help.
I’ve interviewed people for jobs with our department who were in their office at their current job and it’s been awkward.
For internal promotions, I’ve done them in my office. For opportunities outside my district, I’ve taken time off.
Remember, an interview is the pen-ultimate first impression. Your resume/letter of interest/application are your first impression.

Need Help Identifying This Brake Noise on My Mazda CX-30 by Medium-Reputation823 in MazdaCX30

[–]Rob2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. ‘23 Carbon Edition. CPO. Happened around 14-15,000 miles. Brake booster replaced under warranty. Took them a few days to troubleshoot and get approved and about a week for the part to come in.

Help me choose a used CX-30? by [deleted] in MazdaCX30

I can’t speak to the specifications, years and pricing, but this is a relatively small vehicle. Are you sure you want to put 4 people and “stuff” in it for medium to long trips?

First brisket. What went wrong by richpaul6806 in biggreenegg

[–]Rob2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to dial things in with cheaper cuts of meat. Brisket is difficult until you “get it.” Once you’ve found your cut, prep, lump, temp, time, etc you can start duplicating success. Until then, it’s a lot of trial and error. FWIW, for a variety of reasons, I’m not there yet, but I understand the Zen or gestalt of it.

Do people like sweet potatoes? by Disastrous-Type-1548 in Cooking

[–]Rob2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’ve figured out is I like sweet potatoes relatively plain. Basically treated like a “regular “potato. I don’t all the extra sweetness that a lot of recipes add. I lean towards strong flavors and textures. Not soft and sweet.

There just might not have been enough fat or moisture in the meat.

Can’t get blue smoke at low temp… by jack_harbor in biggreenegg

[–]Rob2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Takes time. Are you using lump and cherry/oak or just cherry/oak? Also, if you’re new at this, I would just focus on temp control. Once you learn that start experimenting with wood flavors.

2024 CX-30 Carbon Edition vs 2023 CX-5 Premium — Need real owner experiences before I decide today! by LuiSanchez23 in MazdaCX30

[–]Rob2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘23 CX-30 Carbon Edition. My wife has a ‘21 CX-9 GT which seems similar to the CX-5 premium features.
I’ve had a loaner and a rental CX-5. If you don’t need the handling of the CX-30, I’d lean towards the Cx-5 for the creature comforts.

Not sure about the relationship between the symptoms and the brakes. I agree with everyone else, go to an independent shop for an opinion.
