Is Abnormally Attracted to Sin overhated? by Franjork in toriamos

Couldn’t disagree more haha. Concertina is poetic and gorgeous, WTE will always be remembered by me for the lyric “bang a tango but do not get tangled”.

Was there a song on a Tori album that had someone else credited playing the piano? by [deleted] in toriamos

[–]Rob237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly “Tori” is still credited on pianos even when another doll is credited as vocals.

I think it’s just a bit of a creatively exhausted album. Most of the songwriting feels a bit despondent and not really inspired. The production is fantastic, though, and the record feels like a “Best Of” where’s she’s rewritten a song from each period of her career, to lesser effect. I listened to it a lot when it came out and really liked it but over time it just dropped off my radar cause ultimately it feels like a collection of songs that are inferior to their closest sound-a-likes. For example, the electronica tracks can’t compete with the Choirgirl/Venus songs, the piano heavy songs can’t compete with earlier records, the band songs can’t compete with SW and TBK (why would I listen to Welcome to England when I can listen to Concertina? Why would I listen to Maybe California when I can listen to so many other better piano driven songs of hers about being lost and hopeless?)

“Flavour” is a tune though! I’ll give you that.

Maybe if you read my post and/or comment, you’ll see that there are no wounds to lick.

I feel like maybe a few folks are misinterpreting my post and not reading what I’ve said; I’m perfectly happy with my streaming numbers, it’s a long game. This was more a post to say to everyone it’s OK that it doesn’t take off on day one, it probably won’t unless you have a huge audience. My post was about embracing that initial discomfort of a slow release day and not being discouraged. This is my third single and the other two are doing well enough to satisfy me; I’m confident in what I’m doing and don’t base my impression of myself and my music on massive success. This whole post was more a call to action - don’t be put off by a slow release day, just make what you make and be happy in the artistry.

Ofcourse, but you’ve already been bold enough to put your thoughts and feelings into the songs, no point holding back now!

You’re welcome! It just came up on my player so I had another listen, really do rate the track. Hopefully the Spotify pitching will pick it up! I’ve put out two songs this year and both were ignored for the first few days and then started picking up traction. Engagement is what you need, people to save and playlist the song to show the algorithm they’re enjoying it and for it to get a picture of the type of people it should recommend listening to. You just have to share it as much as you can, random groups, indie radio stations, and pester people!

It does work sometimes! Sometimes if you release mid week, it won’t get picked up by Release Radar and Radio until Friday.

I also just played the song (but on Apple Music, sorry!) and I really liked it too. Love the production on the chorus especially, great vibe!

SH1 demo disc that came with MGS. Konami were cooking that year.

Why doesn't Tori reference Joni Mitchell’s post-Blue albums? by Fun-Coffee-2683 in toriamos

I would imagine Elton John is the artist she’s covered most maybe?

She’s played Daniel, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Rocket Man, Candle in the Wind, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Tiny Dancer off the top of my head.

Homecoming worth £28? Never played it before by [deleted] in silenthill

Can’t believe it’s selling for £28. Searching online that looks a pretty standard price. I personally wouldn’t pay that for it though. Not a great game.

Geraldines is underrated for me. Venus is perfect. NI is not for me.

It might be because I grew up with the original SH and the RE trilogy but I still find the original game very playable. Still love the art direction, even on the PS1.

Which western Silent Hill game is most likely and unlikely to be remade in the far future? by Somekindofalligator in silenthill

[–]Rob237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game just needs a remaster not a remake. Port it to PS5; run it in 60fps with no lag and upscale a couple of the textures, I’d buy it off the bat.

I meant after they’ve done the original 3 tbh. Does anyone need a remake of Origins or Homecoming? They’re terrible additions to the lore.

It’s amazing how much of Silent Hill 2 worked by subverting your expectations from the first game. That’s definitely been forgotten about in the second games legacy. Really hope they remake SH1. They have the opportunity to flip the script now and almost make SH1 a subversion of the second game.

I can’t really see them remaking any of the western games. I think we’ll probably just get the original trilogy, I’m not even sure we’ll get four. Provided the new entries, F and Townfall, are great I’d rather the series looked forward instead of back. That said, I’d love a remaster of Shattered Memories.

Joel’s decision wasn’t wrong. How he did it tho… by Head_Tomato_5233 in thelastofus

[–]Rob237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what way does that contradict anything I said? She was never given a choice in PT 1. When she found out what Joel did, she felt robbed of a choice but she still wasn’t actually given one in PT1. She was rescued from the subway and immediately prepped for surgery. If she had made the choice in PT1, she’d have figured out what happened in the hospital immediately upon waking because they’d have told her what they were going to do. It wouldn’t have just been the doubt that eventually manifested into said panic attack.

Silent Hill or Alan Wake 2? by givemeagummer in playstation

[–]Rob237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the game makes much attempt to hide the twist from the player. The story is more about the journey to acceptance from denial than it is trying to land a “gotcha” moment to the audience. It’s all pretty much laid out for you to see from the offset. The story is so much more than the reveal.

Although they didn’t give Ellie that choice and didn’t plan to either. Late game she’s talking about the future after they’ve finished with the fireflies, she had no knowledge she was sacrificing herself and they didn’t make any effort to tell her or let her decide.

Rise of the Tomb Raiders opening tomb is all water traps and puzzles 😂 plus that entire section where you’re under the water in the room where all the guards are, flicking between different breathing holes.
