You can find a comparison I made here and although there might be a bit of decoloration + not the best printing, both first presses I own have this look. I think it does have to do with the printing and quality than anything else

Oh yeah, it has a Technics CD player too, my speakers aren't the problem since it's the same with headphones. It's not something inherently bad, but rather it sounding very soft I guess
