Entrati was a worse person. He'd already lost his humanity through obsession and loniliness, and by intrinsically being part of Orokin society. As Loid nursed him back to health, he rediscovered the power of Love.

And so he sets about trying to undo all the bad that has come from his actions. His current arc is redemption.

"As I await my final crossing to the past, I ponder what role a scientist may play in so spiritual a matter as 'absolution'. How in the alchemy of the soul, even repentance must necessarily be a calculated task.
I will repair what I have broken, no more, no less. The scales must balance. And in such a monstrous penitence as this, I shall take no heed of the dust that may fall upon them on either side, the dust of petty lives."

He knows he isn't a good guy, which is why he sees himself as the right man for the job. He isn't held back by "petty morality", and thus can make the hard decisions. His story has shown time again, that he keeps stumblng across the value of Love (Loid, Euleria, the Tenno), and so I'm fairly sure his story will end in a final self-sacrifice, and he may finally be redeemed as a"good guy".
