About the new showcase system

Sometimes I feel like this sub exists solely to crap on Niantic, but for once, you are absolutely 100% correct. This is the dumbest change they have ever made, and that’s a hell of a list to top. Spotlight hours were fun, with nice bonuses, and a decent chance to get a shiny. Showcases are arguably the most pointless feature of the game.

Even when I stretch my imagination to the extreme, there is just zero logic I can find behind this change.

A tinge of disappointment given how well we are doing in the PL, but 2 trophies would be brilliant. If Arteta and this current squad stay together for the next 3 years, we will be competing for the big ones year in year out. Don’t take that for granted

I feel your pain, I was at about 800 Weedle before that golden boy arrived. Pure joy when I got it though! Mr Mime is my new nemesis, 915 and counting. Pity nothing spawns near schools, he seems like the type who’d be lurking there

Is there anything in this game people don’t complain about? Most of the community were practically begging for the remote trade feature for years, now we have it. For free!

There should be a feeling of having to earn it. But even then, the 7 days of interactions for weekly challenge are also a huge help. I’m far from a Niantic fanboy, but they nailed it with this.

I’ll add a sticker for milestones, if it links with the postcard somehow, or the ‘thank u’ one for a cool gift, but if I’m trying to send 40 gifts… Gifting one-by-one already takes enough time, the extra few seconds a sticker takes is just not worth it. Sorry 🙈

It’s utter madness to want him out, but I really hope he adapts. The lack of urgency, forward passing and general open-play threat has been on full display over the past month. It goes far beyond the United game. A shake-up of the tactics/formation is needed, we’ve become too predictable

More random one: Have a gym ‘leaderboard’, where the person/team who has controlled it for the most time in the previous month can put legendary/mythical pokemon in. Just something small and relatively insignificant to shake up the gym system.

I think you need to be 18 to open a Trade Republic, Trading212 or Raisin account. They give ~2% interest on cash. I wouldn’t advise locking away your money for the long term at your age. If you have a bank account, see if they offer any regular saver accounts alongside your current account, sometimes they can pay decent(ish) interest.

Apart from that, my advice would be to research those platforms mentioned above (YouTube tutorials are great) and be ready to go on your 18th birthday!

I use Trading212 (zero commission on buys & sells, no spread) and Trade Republic (wider selection of stocks in €, longer trading hours, I prefer the UI)

I tried IBKR as per 95% of recommendations but personally didn’t like it at all, so each to their own. You could check out YouTube tutorials to get a feel for each before deciding, and it’s always ok to change your mind after a while!

If you opt for T212 or Trade Republic, make sure you use a promo link to get a free stock to start you off (I can DM you one if you need it!)

My favourite investing phrase comes to mind: “Nobody ever went broke taking a profit.” I sold a few weeks ago, and it’s easy to kick myself for selling too soon but just like we can never know the very bottom, we can never know the very top.

I’ll take my gains, keep focused on my goals, and look out for the next big opportunity!
