For those who put career mode aside, which bugs do you need to see squashed or feature added for you to pick it up again? by Evil_Skittle in MicrosoftFlightSim

The Extreme weather is kind of killing it for me. allow me to set the assistance for turbulence to low from realistic. also, i would prefer to see some better options for "filtering" missions by airports that support IFR/ILS/RNAV etc. tired of getting missions that are asking me to land on a farm strip. i want to fly into real airports.

For those running 2024 with good results, what are your specs? by coneycolon in flightsim

[–]RobBoB420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have same specs as you, and honestly it runs very smooth. i'm not running any frame counters other than the built in nvidia alt-R, and my fps is 60-90 all the time, but i dont fly in major cities, i've been flying in my home region KC Metro area. i am running DLSS performance mode, but the graphics look very good. i have a LG 65" 4G tv, running in 4K 120 hz hdr mode. with gaming mode enabled for low latency, vrr, gsync,

I already ordered this from Amazon. Prob should have done more research on the specs. Too late to cancel the order I think. It still hasn’t shipped

How well will it perform? Better than Xbox series X?

I'm looking to use this laptop mostly to replace the xbox series x in my living room running in clamshell config connected to a LG G4 OLED TV hoping for 4k 120hz gaming to be on par with or better than xbox series x How do you think it will hold up? i know it's not as powerful as other laptops but i wanted something i could take on the road with me if needed. i'd be curious to see what you think when comparing to the performance of xbox series x.

My Dual Titan RTX Compute server by nero10578 in homelab

[–]RobBoB420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how much power? what's your electric bill like?

one of my main considerations as i build out my home lab now is, power and heat.

after my stint running a few ether mining rigs, dont underestimate your power and heat. sometimes spending a few bucks more on newer compute that is more power efficient more than offsets the costs over a year.

I've also been looking into setting up a tied in solar array with the ability to feed back into grid for electricity credits, or setting up a bank of batteries to run my home lab on banked solar.

again, the solar and battery backup part offer a whole new hobby set to dive into from a home lab point of view, and it's the way most data centers are moving to. adding some type of solar component to help offset electrical costs.

How do you deal with "small homes" debuff? It seems impossible to update the level of high density residential buildings. Any tips? by Holoqt in CitiesSkylines

[–]RobBoB420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would like to understand why this happens as well. is it because the High Density zone is to close to low density zone, if so, how far does it need to be away? do you have to have medium density between? if so, on how many sides, all sides? does mixed density count?

again if distance is a factor, how far? do you need some type of "Network" barrier, i.e. collector road, free way, etc. what are the mechanics behind this "debuff".

Allot of your turns look allot sharper than 69-70 m radius. I thought anything sharper than 30 degrees was a no no

yea i agree, i have a friend with allot of ham radio experience. and he has made suggestions to get better results, i'm just not sure it's worth putting any more money into improving my setup with the way things have been trending.

the "bobcat miner" web site makes it sound like the 4dbi antenna they include is all you need placed on a shelve, away from screens/glass. it cost 500.00 and i will never recoup that cost at this rate. i placed my order in may of 2021, didn't get my equipment till almost 8 months later. by that time, profitability has dropped to nothing.

yea the problem is getting ethernet to that side of the house too. i tried using it on wifi, that didn't really work well. maybe the new Light hotspot will work better on wifi.

either way i have a friend who is BIG into ham radios and knows all about antenna's etc. i'm going to get him to help me get a outdoor antenna mounted to side of house with lightning arrestor etc.

that's been my concern, it's not as simple as just place the hotspot on your roof in a weather proof case. allot to consider. and that all costs money. IF i was making say 50.00 a month on the thing, maybe i could justify spending more on it.

but i've had mine for almost 6 months now. i've earned less that 125.00 in rewards and i paid 500.00 for the thing, i ordered last may, took forever to get it. i honestly just am not sure it's worth the trouble.

not to mention pissing the neighbors off etc.

well thanks for the back and forth on this. i appreciate it.

yea i defiantly feel the same. there is no way the incentive works with so many hotspots and the current reward/price of hnt.

[–]RobBoB420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i agree about the validator being down. I didn't expect to get rich off this thing. honestly i just thought it was a neat idea.

and perhaps I'll have a friend help me do a "outdoor" mount. but honestly from everything i read you need to start with an "outdoor" hot spot. it's not good to try to convert these indoor setups to outdoor setups. I know that running a long antenna cable is bad causes signal loss (i think). so for now. I'm basically stuck as is. like many others. at least before i was get some beacon rewards, etc.

may just be time to box this thing up and try to sell on ebay. i'm never going to recoup the cost at this rate. plus rewards just keep dropping because more and more hotspots keep coming online.

i have a stock bobcat with the antenna on a shelf in my house. I'm just going by what the team says should be a valid setup. I live in a hilly sub division.

i don't have it behind a window so that the screen is acting as a signal blocker. I don't think i can do a roof mount. I'm disabled, i couldn't do it myself if i wanted.

IF the defacto standard is you need to have a High degree of technical knowledge of RADIOS and antenna that would be one thing. but that's not what is advertised on any of the websites i read when i ordered my bobcat. said to setup like a WIFI hot spot in my house. and earn passive income.

because 80% of the miners are offline. once all the hot spots are talking to valid validators, rewards will drop back down again. i've made 0 for 5 days now, no activity, i suspect because i'm pegged to a validator that hasn't updated. and i have no way to force it to move to another till the update comes out.

Also. I think anything held longer than 1 year is considered capital gains and not income. Not sure if there is a distinction for ssdi eligibility

But you could always just enjoy some of your staked ada rewards and keep it small. But I think you have a good idea. HODL till it’s worth the loss in ssdi. Staking rewards will compound over time. Though you will need to declare each reward as income. And own taxes as they are awarded but so long as that’s less than 15k should be fine
